Uxtheme installation under Windows XP/2003

Recommended Posts

Ok, have you tried deleteing any files with uxtheme in the name (yes including patched files you downloaded). Just keep C:\Windows\system32\uxtheme.dll and then reboot. Download the patched uxtheme.dll and follow my instructions (or whatever method you want to use) earlier for replacing the file. If that doesn't work use the Neowin UXTheme Multi-Patcher v2.5.1

Thanks...BUT!

Original DDL what comes with SP1:

201 KB (205 824 bytes)

your(downloaded from that site) DDL what you given:

201 KB (205?824 bytes)

So look to the ones....its same.:((

It is the same size, just enables you to apply themes :)

HOW?!!

It impossible because i need PATCHED uxtheme.dll and she must be different size so Windows can be acept another(not standart/3rd party) Themes.

(sorry for my bad english)

no. the size must be the same. the file is patched. backup your copy, then replace it. also you need to start the theme service under win2k3. put the visual styles in the appropiate folder and you're done.

Is the theming service off by default then in Server 2003 SP1 1289?

Any idea which I should use? I have XP Home with SP2 downloaded directily from Windows Update. In your SP2 directory, everything is 6.0 ... mine is 5.1.

It is a Dell OEM CD that came free with a work PC; We purchased 2000 Pro and it came with a free "upgrade" to XP Home, so I installed it on my home PC.

Thanks for the help! :D

it's says SP2_RTM (released to manufacterer) which is sp2 final.

sou you need the matching file (in your OS language) from http://www.is-pimp.com/insanekiwi/neowin/u...ndows%20xp/sp2/

That's what I figured, but the 6.0 threw me off ... mine says 5.1.  Thanks, now I need to go find some nice themes.

yup

ok run down of what I did, I tried the neowin auto patcher - it did not work.

Tried some of the uxtheme.dll's that said SP2... - By doing the rename to uxtheme.dll.old - Didn't work. lol

Just tried the uxtheme.dll you specified to use and used the program that moves it over... - didnt work...

I tried launching straight from the .msstyle file and from appearance tab on every try :(

Please help :(

you tried "some" of the files?

you need the one matching your OS langauge and version.
