todd
Do you guys tend to customize _all_ your icons? Dont you have a hard time finding icons for everything? I've never done it because it seems like there would always be some icons left uncostomized and it would look awkward. I don't want to keep any extra apps loaded (i like keeping my processes minimal).. just do it all through res hacking or guir... oh and.. gant is getting old.. ;) (and i dont even have it on my system)
poisonarrow
I use the IconPackager theme, Gray XP Folders. It fits in well with the default XP icons, so it doesn't matter if it leaves some out.
Tedhi
Thats the same reason I don't customise my icons, because you'll never get full coverage. Besides, they'd never really be seen. I prefer to use Object Dock with my most-used programs on (for which I can get funky 3D icons)m seeing as 90% of the time that's all I'll ever be looking at. dreamz Veteran Posted July 8, 2004 Veteran Share Posted July 8, 2004 it's difficult. there are icons everywhere, so you'll need to hack lots of dlls. i prefer hacking shell32.dll, as it gives the most permanent system-wide changes. i don't mind having a handful of default xp icons. i just don't care that much. but if you do, you'll need to be extra diligent to get rid of all of them. Verbose.
There's a collection of shell32's @ http://preducer.tk/. Gartoon Shell Pack version 2 customizes: Shell32.dll explorer.exe iexplore.exe mydocs.dll msgina.dll MSIMN.EXE mspaint.exe netshell.dll notepad.exe SHDOCVW.DLL calc.exe cmd.exe stobject.dll WAB.EXE wmplayer.exe wordpad.exe https://www.neowin.net/forum/index.php?act=...7&hl=gartoon&s= If you have SP2 RC2 DO NOT use these... I went through an ordeal trying to recover from it.
