QuarterSwede
ACDSee 6 still blows away Picasa. I guess we'll have to wait for version 2.0. ACDSee? 6.0.3 PowerPack ? $79.99 USD I still don't get it? How can you all compare a FREE program with something that costs 79.99!? (Forget thatuse to cost money) That's ludacris! Galley
ACDSee™ 6.0.3 PowerPack – $79.99 USDI still don't get it? How can you all compare a FREE program with something that costs 79.99!? (Forget that it use to cost money) That's ludacris! ACDSee by itself is only $49.99. Yeah, you certainly have a point. $50 is a long way from 0. Bearded Kirklander
Adobe gives a free version of its Photo Album 2 software: http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshopalbum/starter.html Here is a comparison of features against the full program: http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshopalb...tercompare.html How does it compare to this free Picasa download? I would think pretty darn good, especially since it is also free. Anyone know for sure though? I simply have not had the time to do a full on ghost of the machine, and then install and test both apps. Thanks, BK Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/190399-google-acquires-picasa/page/6/#findComment-2515607 Share on other sites

Wadey
I downloaded Picassa at the weekend, it scanned my drives and found pictures I didn't know I had :o One thing I found though, is that occasionally windows will come up with a window saying downloader.exe has caused an error and will be closed. I imagine that this is a part of picasa as I'd never seen it until I installed the said program. Xab
I like it how when Microsoft decided to give away IE for free, everyone screams antitrust, but when Google buys and gives away Picasa for free no one cares. Maybe Adobe should start suing for antitrust. Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/190399-google-acquires-picasa/page/6/#findComment-2526523 Share on other sites

Ryne
Picassa isn't included with an OS ;). IE might not have been with the OS at first, but as soon as they added it, thats when the problems began. Correct me if I'm wrong, I like to learn ;) Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/190399-google-acquires-picasa/page/6/#findComment-2526733 Share on other sites

Redestium
like what? i'm curious because I'd like to take a look :) I'd like to know too. Did anyone find out if there's a way to zoom in edit mode? I know there's the slider in the library view but I don't want them all scaled just one that I am looking at, which is small. I'd like to see support for animated gif files and gif/png transparency in future version though. Other than that I love this program. pacifica
What do you mean with category support. I mean i just looked at the software and you can built you own collections... isn't this like a category? in acdsee and adobe photoshop album you can create categories and assign them to your pictures. you can then sort and search by category (especially nice in acdsee). you can create custom categories so you can group photos together without having to move them or break up for collection. mv520
i like this picasa program. I really like the enhance photo feature, but I noticed that after it enchanches the picture it doesnt stay when i open the pic for example internet explorer or "windows picture or fax viewer". Does Adobe Photoshop have that feature? If so can someone point out the plug-in (that enhances the picture like in picasa), if there is one. thank you really much.
