ACDSee™ 6.0.3 PowerPack – $79.99 USD

I still don't get it? How can you all compare a FREE program with something that costs 79.99!? (Forget that it use to cost money) That's ludacris!

ACDSee by itself is only $49.99. Yeah, you certainly have a point. $50 is a long way from 0.

Adobe gives a free version of its Photo Album 2 software:

Here is a comparison of features against the full program:

How does it compare to this free Picasa download? I would think pretty darn good, especially since it is also free.

Anyone know for sure though? I simply have not had the time to do a full on ghost of the machine, and then install and test both apps.

Thanks,

BK

Edit: Oops, I just noticed a few posts deep in to that thread it says that.

I guess this thread is kinda redundant, o well :)

I downloaded Picassa at the weekend, it scanned my drives and found pictures I didn't know I had :o

One thing I found though, is that occasionally windows will come up with a window saying downloader.exe has caused an error and will be closed. I imagine that this is a part of picasa as I'd never seen it until I installed the said program.

like what? i'm curious because I'd like to take a look :)

I'd like to know too.

Did anyone find out if there's a way to zoom in edit mode? I know there's the slider in the library view but I don't want them all scaled just one that I am looking at, which is small.

I'd like to see support for animated gif files and gif/png transparency in future version though. Other than that I love this program.

What do you mean with category support. I mean i just looked at the software and you can built you own collections... isn't this like a category?

in acdsee and adobe photoshop album you can create categories and assign them to your pictures. you can then sort and search by category (especially nice in acdsee). you can create custom categories so you can group photos together without having to move them or break up for collection.

i like this picasa program. I really like the enhance photo feature, but I noticed that after it enchanches the picture it doesnt stay when i open the pic for example internet explorer or "windows picture or fax viewer". Does Adobe Photoshop have that feature? If so can someone point out the plug-in (that enhances the picture like in picasa), if there is one. thank you really much.
