The newer AXP's support SSE2, I believe. You should be ok in installing it over, at this point.

Oh well, thnx for the reply, but after a little research, seems my processor doesnt do SSE2, prolly somat new with the 64bit ones, mines only a 2600+ :/

Does that mean you can run it side by side with the regular 1.0 version??

Supposedly? Yes. That said, 1.0 Final couldn't read some changes that 1.0+ made to the profile and therefore didn't work for me during the initial testing.

You're not wrong there, I just downloaded the official nightly(CPU doesn't support SSE2) and it renders much quicker than 1.0 Final.

Thnx for that post man, would of never tried it if it wernt for you, and its so much better than the final :)

It's decidedly quicker than 1.0 final (P4 with HT, so it supports SSE2) but then so is the Netscape prototype (*Firescape*). Apparently you and the source of the prototype are doing something that the Firefox dev team didn't do with Firefox 1.0; otherwise, where is all the extra speed coming from?

When installing your builds over 1.0 final, how much cleaning do I need to do before hand? Can I just uninstall 1.0 final, or do I need to manually go in a delete all of the profiles folders, etc? Thanks

EDIT - I just deleted everything for a fresh start and installed your version. It's very speedy but why are some of the graphical elements different? The Firefox icon, for starters, but also the little puzzle piece which appears when there are components to intall on a web page (like flash). I'm a huge fan of the normal firefox graphical look - is there a way to either make your builds to look the same, or, more likely, how can I edit them myself? Thanks

I just backed up my profile and installed over 1.0 final and it worked great, the icon was probably changed by bangbang since the official nightlies have the normal one. The puzzle icon has been there for as long as I can remember.

Edit- Optimized builds are not allowed to use the official artwork, thats why it is different. :)

It's the use of the 1.8a6 engine from Mozilla. It's much faster than 1.7.

Thanks for the answer - all clear now.

Is there anyway to change it to the official artwork myself, or is that a no-no?

It has to be done pre-building.

12/17 is out

I have it installed now..and you guys are right the page rendering is awesome. I did lose some extensions though. I lost spellbound for one (one I need badly), but it was well worth it for the added speed. And spellbound will work with it soon, just the author has to figure out how to fix it and still have it work on 1.0. Thanks bangbang023, awesome builds.

Please excuse any spelling mistakes till spellbound is working again :D
