"What's up with people being REALLY rich nowadays..."  (I quoted wrong and edited as best I could).

Tax returns maybe :alien:.  I used mine to buy a few pairs of jeans and tires.

Hell, if I can get away with it, my tax return is buying me three of these puppies to get rid of my CRT madness.

Note the 2 damn copies of iLife '05. I bought the uptodate of iLife '05 not expecting it to be included in the iMac (I could've sworn there was no mention of it :| ).

Is it just me or does that look a LOT like a Mac mini she's holding??

edit: OK, I just noticed I wasn't the first to notice that. OOPS, maybe I should have read to the end of the thread before pointing it out.

Why though? Why not just get a 30inch ACD for that price that has better resolution instead of a screen that can only push 1280 x 768 max.

I'm assuming that since he can afford those LCD's, he can afford a TV.

Well, it requires an HDTV tuner for that res in TV. I wouldnt use it as a TV. The reason I would buy this is because I can get three of them for the price of the 30" Cinema + Radoen x800 to use it. I have 3 20" CRT's; I would want to continue using three displays as I have for about the last four years and am quite used to that.

Yes but you are not going to have barely any space with those three at there low resolution compared to your 1600x1200

The resolution doesnt bother me as long as it is higher than 1024x768. I know it isn't much better than that (1280x768) but the screen real estate (as far as inches) is what I am concerned with. For instance, I work on PS CS a lot, all my palletes are on another screen. All open, so I can work in all of them at once and see how changing one affects another. Mail on it's own screen. iTunes iChat too. I reserve my main display for the main app I am working in, and other apps go to the other displays. it is actually quite nice. 3840x768 is ok with me, NTM I can probably push higher with DisplayConfigX (see above).

EDIT: At one point, I had six 17" displays at 1280x1024.

If you're going to be using 3 side-by-side you might want to look for something with a thinner bezel.

dude

that took u a hell of a long time to respond to

well u saw the lc3, i mean its a slow computer it takes a while, :D actually i was just looking back at all the desktops and saw someone had quoted me so i figured why not, heh

yeah thats one thing i hate about the acms, side by side they have like a 2 inch bezel... would have much rather seens a 1cm bezel or like the dell 2005fps (just not cheap and ugly like them)

yeah, I thought the same thing but then looked again because, why would she be holding a Mac mini?

me a few seconds later: "oh yeah... that's Jelly.."

Maybe that is indeed a Mac mini. Maybe Natalie Portman is allergic to dead hamsters so the director had to get a substitute for it. After talking to the studio and the board of directors, they decided that the best substitute is the yet-to-be-released Mac mini from Apple. The director then obtained a testing unit from Steve Jobs by assuring him that the MPAA will not sue him for illegal movie downloads. Finally, the Mac mini ended up in Natalie Portman's hand during the movie shoot and everybody was fooled into thinking that it's a dead hamster.

I guess what I'm trying to say is, everything is possible.
