Your Mac Hardware Setup

I was never really happy with windows (I wouldn't say I hated it though) so I used Linux, and later BSD. If you want a head start on the OS X side of things, you should look into a *NIX desktop system to pass the time. With the money you save on Windows and other software licenses (well, not really given the rate Windows versions ship) you'll be able to grab yourself a powermac that much faster, plus almost everything you learn on *NIX systems can be brought over to OS X.

Check it out, even if you hate UNIX-like systems then you can use OS X without ever noticing it's build off BSD - but if you like it, then you'll be that much more at home.

people rave about Gentoo, Mandrake, Fedore Core, and Knoppix linux distributions. I'm more of a BSD guy so I recommend OpenBSD for your servers and FreeBSD for the desktop.

OMG i wish i had money to by an Mac.. there awsome, anyone wanna donate :)??? lol

Check eBay. You can usually find some really good deals on used machines. I just picked up an older Mac that was upgraded to a G3 for $40 plus shipping. It's kind of slow, but it will run OS X. There are plenty of Blue&White G3's for under $300 if you look around.
