I need pop-up blocker...

Question

What I really liked about SP2, when I installed it this morning, was the Internet Explorer integrated pop-up blocker. It blocked literally EVERY pop-up and the only way to have one open was with the CRTL key. I liked this a lot.

I had to uninstall SP2 because of some stupid lag problem with my mouse, so now I come here to ask if there is a pop-up blocker just like the one that comes on Internet Explorer SP2?

How many people actually look through Firefox's options panel before tossing it?

Just remember, YOU have to make decisions on how you want Firefox to behave.

Uhh, yeah, I do. I find that setting IE to the latest settings recommended by Microsoft also causes many sites not to load properly. So instead of manually adding every site I visit to the Trusted Sites list, I'm sticking with Firefox.

What's the point of mocking me? You don't seem to have accomplished anything but make yourself sound stupid, I hope it did make you feel better though.

IE will behave how I want it to? That's total bull. Where can I find the options to enable tabs and the popup blocker in IE?

i dont know, it was more for a stupid laugh than anything else

dont take that post seriously.

but if you want to know, use a browser that uses the IE rendering engine that has a popup blocker and tabs.

Always someone to start a fight. And about the Firefox, it wasn't spyware. It was happening on a freshly formated hard drive, with the only things installed before Firefox were Windows Updates. I've given Firefox so many chances, I always end up going back to it, just for some odd reason, but sadly always leaving is disappinted. I really liked Firefox, but it broke my heart. :hmmm:

Maybe I'm just not using the right settings for Firefox, if someone could suggest the best things to use with Firefox, for example suggestions, certain settings, etc., I'd love to give them a try. I just don't know enough about Firefox to actually play with it for days trying to get the stupid window to stop resizing from the damn pop-up ads.

my god, why do some of you people recommend him standalone builds? Is it so hard to explain the guy to have a look at Firefox/Opera/Mozilla and see why these solutions are way better than other crap? For once, we all trying to be savvy computer users in here, why stick to that crap. AdMuncher my a**! And those of you who say that a lot of popups are getting through Firefox, learn to better manage the tools you are given and don't write thing like that because of your incompetence. And for God's sake, stop going to those 'freehardcorecelebrities' type of web sites and signing up for crap right and left. A good common sense is the best way to stay away from ignorance.

I understand you want a single window mode browser and popup blocking that doesn't break things.

I suggest you get the latest nightly (or wait for the 1.0 preview release - sometime in mid august) which has a new popup blocking engine. It's blocking everything that I can see.

Nightly link here: http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/fir...irefoxSetup.exe

Then I'd get the 'single window mode' extension from update.mozilla.org. Install that and it will open all new links inside the browser.

Finally, check the advanced javascript settings (Tools --> Options --> Web Features --> Advanced) and turn off what you want (most likley everything).
