My motherboard is an ASUS P4T (i850 chipset) - same as the one on that website.I read that the motherboard supports up to 1.5 GHz Intel Pentium 4 CPUs , but my Pentium 4 CPU is 1.8 GHz :blink: WTF ???

Can anyone explain this ?

i dunno,but doesnt that mean the motherboard supports a processor of 1.5ghz at the max?try updating the motherboard bios,that might help.

At the time that the board was manufactured Intel only produced a Max of 1.5GHz. So when ASUS goes to put the board in the box they label it "MAX 1.5GHz" just to be "on the safe side"......

However:

The fastest Pentium 4 that uses Socket 423 is a 2.0GHz. Update your BIOS and your system will have support for such a cpu.

Sure I can show you how... but let me describe all the fixes through the revisions first.

BIOS 1003

1. Add RDRAM turbo mode option in BIOS setup menu.

2. Fix CPU voltage setting will reset when rebooting the system.

3. Change DMI CPU family from Pentium III to Pentium Processor family.

4. Clear CMOS contents if RTC power fail status bit is set.

5. Improve CPU temperature reading accuracy.

6. Add support for Remote Lockout version 1.1.

7. Fix SMBIOS error in the implementation.

8. Skip extented memory erasure when enabling quick POST item.

9. Revise POST memory management codes.

10. Save PCI devices command byte data before S3 suspend.

BIOS 1005

1. Speed up BIOS boot sequence.

2. Fix Windows 2000 cannot be installed with some UDMA mode 5 HDDs.

3. Support new CPU.

4. Rearrange system resource assignment for type 0 multi-function PCI cards.

5. Change "ZIP-100" string to "ZIP".

6. Fix corrupted ESCD data will cause system lockups.

BIOS 1006

1. Support ATA HDDs greater than 160GB.

2. Fix ACPI error in Windows XP when COM2 is disabled in BIOS.

BIOS 1007

1. Change "CPU Front Side Bus Frequency" to "CPU FSB Freq./PCI Freq." in BIOS setup menu.

2. Integrate Intel memory reference code version 1.5.

Well thats a lot of GOOD FIXES and ENHANCEMENTS!!!! :D

You will install BIOS 1007. BIOS updates are cummulative. So everything preceding 1007 will be included.

EDIT: After I dload all that, what do I have to do ? only start the "Setup.exe" file ?

Install the ASUSUpdate Program.

Extract the BIOS File to your desktop

Run the ASUSUPdate Program

Select UPDATE BIOS FROM FILE

Find the BIOS File on the desktop

Click Flash. :D

Let it update.. when its done REBOOT.

Successs at last :yes: :D :rolleyes: :rofl:

After I reboot "Asus Update" tells me that the BIOS is now "1007" :D

And CPU-Z tells me the same:
