It sounds like he has good chunks pretty much done. I don't expect this to be out any time soon.

Would be nice, but this is the real world :)

Best of luck man.

I thought you can opt-out from installing the spyware bundled in the installer, and still install FDM regularly?

The version, which is to see in my avatar, is the "currently in developing" version :)... btw, this version is developing a pretty long time :/

can you make this app replace the original ie one? if so how?

You mean replace the IE download window??

A: I'll try to make it, in future releases. How? Through WinAPI ... I think

Yeah yeah, URL catching, like, when you click in browser any link, which e.g. would be a direkt link to a file, so Download Manager would run in background, and after, it registers, "hey, a link to a file was been clicked" or "hey, IE try open the Download window", Download Manager permits to do it, instead, it opens its Create Download window :), and the URL will be automaticly transfered to Create Download window in DM.

One thing that Star Downloader does (at least in Firefox) when you have its plugin in the Firefox plugins dir is displays a "URL sent to Star Downloader" window in the same tab you clicked the link in. The problem with this is that it's not a real webpage so I can't use the back key or mouse gestures on my mouse, I have to hit the back button in the toolbar (which I never use).

If you are going to reroute downloading from a browser, make sure it doesn't change from the page the download link was coming from. Sometimes a blank tab appears (in Firefox) after a download link gets made (not from a download manager) which is also annoying.
