0 aco Veteran Posted October 4, 2001 Veteran Share Posted October 4, 2001 I know I am waiting, 2001a didn't install on my computer (XP). I've gone to Trillian since but there is no file transfer, message history, and various other features are missing. 0 Sexystyle69
I tried that program also. Its good if you use more than one IM but it doesn't have much features yet. I'm still sticking to ICQ, its one of the best IM's out there, but... very addictive when you have over 30 ppl on ur list. LOL.. Thanks :) Go to preferences. Near the bottom the in left menu there is logging - you can turn on logging for each or all mediums there. You can't load them up in a pretty window like in ICQ - they load in notepad or whatever. Since this still in Alpha stage (though it's written in Beta stage) I think it's not worth to upgrade now until the public release, I upgrade my ICQ because I want to know what new features and also to test it and play with it around. 0 MulletRobZ
Damn! I can't run ICQ 2001b! I was able to install it this time, but I can't run it since the error "ICQ Failed to Initialize Communication Module" popped up! Oh I hate it when this happens! I hope this problem gets fixed before they release ICQ 2001b to the public or I'm going to be f***ing ****ed off! 0 Slouch
I downloaded it, installed it, ran it just fine. Apparently only a limited number of these "alpha" users can run it at one time. I couldn't connect to get online. I guess it's just as well... Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/2101-icq-2001b/#findComment-12628 Share on other sites
0 MulletRobZ
That might be one reason why I can't get ICQ 2001b to work! But what the heck! I'll stick to 2000b! Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/2101-icq-2001b/#findComment-13012 Share on other sites

0 PabUK Veteran Posted October 8, 2001 Veteran Share Posted October 8, 2001 Why is that? Because it is! What more is there to say? It has just got bigger and bigger with each release, hogs far more resources than other clients and worse still is full of ads. Yes I know they can be removed but thats not the point. 0 Intelligen
http://miranda-icq.sourceforge.net/ Try it, uses icq protocol, less of a memory hog and works in XP! also has plugin for msn but get the nightly build for that here... http://miranda-icq.sourceforge.net/rich/mi...nda_nightly.zip Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/2101-icq-2001b/#findComment-13342 Share on other sites
0 MulletRobZ
BTW, there aren't as many MSN Messenger users as ICQ users! ICQ has like 130 million users! MSN has only like 10 - 30 million users! 0 PabUK Veteran Posted October 9, 2001 Veteran Share Posted October 9, 2001 Yes I tried that earlier Intelligen it seems quite good especially as it now supports MSN as well. Very lightweight as well. I will be watching the progress of that neat little proggie. 0 PabUK Veteran Posted October 9, 2001 Veteran Share Posted October 9, 2001 Yes I have and I like it but I am waiting for the next release (which they have been promising for ages) to use it again because I had a few problems with the current version.
