I have updated the Windows Server 2003 fix. Now the playlist are properly installed.

I have included a batch file to make things easier and less likely to fail. Just extract the wmp10 exe file and the wins2k3.zip file into a folder and run setup.bat. More detailed instructoins are in the zip file. If you have tried using the first fix and it failed, leaving you with Wmp9 running this should fix it :)

It doesn't work :( Just before installing skins and PlayList, I've got a "installation failed" dialog box... And "File not found" when trying to copy skins and playlists...

And when I launch WMP, it says something like "3046 version expected, 2991 found"... So the new dlls weren't copied...

Any clues ?

The only thing I can think of is to make sure the following files are copied into the same folder you extracted Wmp10 into.

If your not prompted to overwrite the files you have copied them into the wrong folder and the fix will fail.

codecs10.inf

DRM10.inf

MPCD10.inf

MPPRE10.inf

MPSTUB10.inf

Setup.bat

wins2k3.reg

WMDM10.inf

WMFSDK10.inf

WMP10.inf

WMSET10.inf

WPD10.inf

This fix will also allow you to install Wmp10 in Longhorn (tested). Possibly even Windows 2000 but I ruined my Win2k disc so I can't check this.

Everything was overwritten... I tried to launch every inf separately. When trying to install mppre10, it shows "Installation Failed".

And with some of the other infs, some files are not copied. Some of them already exists (they come from wmp9), but they cannot be overwritten, nor can I delete them (the same ol' message "file in use by another process)... I dunno if I try in Safe mode... I should give a try. (Example of file : \windows\system32\wmploc.dll, after the installation process copies it, it is still version 9.0.0.2991)

Anyway, thanks a lot !

I would go ahead and try it in safe mode or just rebooting if you haven't already. I haven't recieved this error and I've installed this fix on five different machines.

If you still cannot get Wmp10 working run the sfc /scannow command. After that go into "%programfiles%\windows media player" and run setup_wm.exe. I haven't had to test this but it should get wmp9 up and running agian.

The little MSN Butterfly I had set for the store just disappeared (replaced with that red broken image X), and the drop menu doesn't say "Beta" for the MSN Store anymore.

Pondering what I'm pondering?

Welcome to the club.

I'm sure they'll sort out the issues eventually. It's still a kick ass player compared to where it was in player 7 !

I tried to run setup in safe mode. Nothing changed, still "Installation failed" and wmploc.dll wrong version when launching WMP. So I manually deleted a copied wmploc.dll... And it works :)

:woot: I have now Windows Media Player 10 full working on Windows Server 2003 :woot:

Thanks !
