use system restore to remove it.

why the hell would i do that! just to remove 1 program! thats just crazy!

besides, i disabled sytemm restore as it causes more problems than it fixes. i now use Norton Ghost. but still im unwilling to restore my system for the sake of a single application.

so if anyone knows the command line unistall please tell me.

have you tried it from add/remove programs? it might not be there so you might have to tick the 'show updates' box and then find it.

because it will remove windows media player 10.

You can actually do it from the add remove programs page, but it used to be you had to use system restore to remove it. I guess they changed that.

if been through add/remove programs.

doesnt help

im not going to do a restore my pc and loose all of my settings and stuff just because of 1 program, thats just daft. all i need to remove it is the command line unistall string. then i can install wmp10 and it will work.

10 is a good try, but failed IMHO. This should really be 9.1 and not 10. Minimal new features, none of the suggestions have been added from others, MP3 encoder is nice though. Just a note for everyone, codec owners/developers can now submit there codec's to be downloaded via wmplugins.com {http://www.wmplugins.com/ItemList.aspx?typeid=8}. That's a nice touch, but 10 failed to improve on the issues with 9.

I do think it is kind of funny that they are loading Windows 2003 Server up with multimedia capabilities and such. I guess if I was running a server, I'd want it to be totally lean and clean, without DirectX even. I'd only be using it for file and print serving, so guess I could not see a need for all that fancy stuff they have on the Client side.

You forget about the companies that use Windows Servers as the base for terminal services and/or Citrix. Clients get a remote desktop from the server and may like to have access to media player.

I get also the red cross: from time to time, it disappears, then reloading WMP, it comes.

However, I cannot get custom skins working. Every skins from MS are working. Skins, say, from the Skins factory, are not loaded/

Does anyone have experienced that problem???

Am I good for an old-fashioned Reboot-Reformat-Reinstall? :pinch:

Thanks.

Finally, I know the reason why the red X appeared in new WMP... Here is the screen shot of WMP 10 English version under Korean language set... ok no problem on butterfly !!

I think Microsft doesn't luanch official online music page yet .. it still beta ..

So, All of man who don't see the butterfly never worry about red X button ...

The time is the key ...

How come Korea has the music store available but the UK does not? Whats up with that?
