it the new visual that ms released for wmp10.

download here ->http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/mp10/getmore/visualizations.aspx

Where is the MSI file? I can't find it. I need to hack it with Orca.

You can use the command line, and use the following commands:

/Q - Quiet Mode

/T:<full path> - Specifies temporary working folder

/C - Extract files onl to the folder when used also with /T

/C:<cmd> - Override install command defined by author.

Try those.

Something kind of cool. WMP10 will play partially download video files (.dat) from KazaaLite. You need to close KazaaLite first.

Another thing I noticed (don't know if anyone has mentioned it) it installed a new Service..."Windows User Mode Driver Framework" ...unless I just never noticed this Service installed before, but I doubt that, I check them fairly regularly.

WTF! :crazy: didnt see that. is it ok to set this thing to manual or disable?

I've just installed WMP 10, and I've seen it installed on a friends machine. Everything runs ok but my machine hasn't updated the Mp3 or Media player Icon... whichever is the right one... wheras the icon did update on my friends machine. What do i do to make the icon update?

(I think I posted this in the other topic by mistake)

I am going crazy over this little red X box ;-) on top right corner. no plugins running. browser cache/cookies everything flushed. system restarted still that thing is there. :angry:

I know it is supposed to show that msn butterfly over there!!!

(t appears when I select "MSN Music Preview" online store.)

I dug a bit into registry and found these entries... :whistle:

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\MediaPlayer\Services\MSNMusic]

"ImageLargeUrl"="http://beta.music.msn.com/client/msnlogo.png"

"ImageSmallUrl"="http://beta.music.msn.com/client/msnsmall.png"

"ImageMenuUrl"="http://beta.music.msn.com/client/msnsmall.png"

the third entry I've entered manually but is still not helping and it opens from a browser window.

if you look under napster section all entries are there..and napster icon works fine :blink:

I wonder if it has anything to do with having removed the MSN folder in C:\Program Files. Just a wild guess. Wasn't there a butterfly icon in that folder? Let me check a backup image where I have the folder installed. Again, this is just my "first" wild guess. LOL

a google search came up with this:

User-Mode Driver Framework

The user-mode driver framework implements a subset of the kernel-mode framework functionality, including support for Plug and Play, power management, and asynchronous I/O.

Using the user-mode framework, developers can create drivers for network-connected devices and some USB devices, such as portable media players, cameras, and cell phones. Although these drivers run in user mode, they will be standard Plug and Play drivers that the system finds and installs in the same way as kernel-mode Plug and Play drivers.

guess I'll just leave it alone...

I got the installer extracted, but what file do I use orca on to change the installer? Its not seeing any of its file types in my extracted folder. Things that make you go Hmmmmmmmmmmm.

Same here bro, maybe we have been fooled.

For extracting those files i just used Rigt Click->Extract To...

but they are useless without installer (in Windows 2003).

w00t got msn music icon working

closed wmp10

cleared my cache came here saw the thread with the butterfly urls. (in firefox)

loaded up the icon url in ie (then saw the long strip of butterflys in ie)

loaded up wmp10 icon works no red x

might work for you guys too

:woot: :woot: :woot:
