Hoang V Nguyen
My fastest boot with Windows is 20 seconds, I am using Windows 7 in Macbook Pro. I hear that if I replacement my hdd by solid drive, it could be faster than now, maybe 15 seconds. Billus
Windows loading (skipping BIOS) is round 20 seconds or so, give or take. BIOS check itself as well as the hard drive check takes around 20 seconds itself. Edit: Laptop takes around 20 seconds tops including BIOS loadup thingy which takes tops, 1 or 2 secs. Gary2MBz
About 23 seconds from post to desktop on the laptop loaded by my WD Scorpio Black. About 33 seconds from post to desktop on the Athlon 64 build run by a Seagate 250GB 7200RPM SATA 3.0GBps brought down to 1.5 by the mobo. I plan to upgrade the laptop with an SSD possibly by the end the year. I plan to replace the Athlon 64 machine but keeping some parts to make a Core i5 (maybe i7 depends on price) file server. I will do a RAID 5 + JBOD setup and have it shared over Gigabit and Wireless N @ 300mbps Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/220190-your-fastest-boot-time/page/16/#findComment-592714826 Share on other sites
cork1958
All 7 of my machines take about 20-30 seconds from hitting power button to clicking something!! avpblogs
22 seconds from cold booting to the login screen. It is kind of fun to have a race between different boxes by starting them off at same time and seeing which one wins. :D Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/220190-your-fastest-boot-time/page/16/#findComment-592715104 Share on other sites

e-berlin.org
that doesnt count. and your entire video was much longer than 5 secs. Yes, it counts. That's how a Mac with SSD boots and that's the real thing. And zulugod, booting itself took ~7 seconds, not 5. Tweaker
Here is a very handy little tool that will not only analyze your boot time but it will also tell you how you can speed your boot time up. The first time I used the tool it showed a boot time of 1 min 05 sec. Then I made some of the recommended changes which improved my boot time to 39 sec. Here is the link to the tool: http://www.soluto.com/ Here is a screen shot: Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/220190-your-fastest-boot-time/page/16/#findComment-592715786 Share on other sites

tsupersonic
18-20 seconds w/ BIOS time, timed using phone. SSD power! Although with WD Black HDD, it took about 25 seconds, so not a huge difference.
