wiredbits
I think that this is the longest thread I've ever seen (apart from jokes etc.)!I know that Herby thrives on challenges and responds almost instanataneously so here's an easy one: the updated .reg files etc. are added to the .zip in the first post in this thread, so how about also adding the tutorial? It's at post 378 (I think that's the correct one), but if it was in the first .zip, there would be everything there together - the .reg files, individual notes, along with a "how to". I also have a comment about the software that's been, or being, produced to do these tweaks automatically. I acknowledge the skill that Herby has clearly demonstrated here and also the skill of the programmer(s) who have taken these techniques and put them into a package that is "user friendly" for those who don't like to play with the registry. Personally, I prefer to know exactly what's going on, so would rather do the tweaks by hand and have the frustration/pleasure of sorting out problems if they don't work exactly as planned. If such software had been produced and put onto the market without Herby sharing these great secrets with everyone, I wouldn't have had so much pleasure in creating textless icons. 586835123[/snapback] Hi like you I enjoy the knowing how things work but i some pont I want an easier way to do things. Like anything one person can find a use for something while another will not, no biggie its just the way things are. Jim

Herby
I think that this is the longest thread I've ever seen (apart from jokes etc.)! Sorry for my late reply,.. I had some problems with my ISP (technical problems with the DNS server). :/ I've added the Tutorial to the first zip file. :) Hi, just a question but if i uninstall SCCU will it revert back to default Windows? If it doesn't how can I set everything back to default? Thanks for any help. When you save the registry files with SCCU, it creates the regfiles in SCCU\RegFiles. Go to the RegFiles folder and run RemoveAll.cmd and refresh your Desktop and they're gone. :) I found out how to remove the "create shortcut" button. (Yes I went from the beginning page by page) My other question is can you add those horizontal separator's? Uhmm,.. you can find all the info about how to remove the "create shortcut" command in the first post. :) It's not possible to add separator's with a reg file,.. they are hardcoded in dll and exe files. @ Jim: check your mail ;)
Tosca
Many thanks Herby. I knew that there must be a problem which delayed your response. I'm glad that the DNS server is behaving again!
Herby
I've uploaded SCCU v1.05 to VirtualPlastic, you can download it here. :) Changelog: Version 1.02 Browser controls are now icons instead of buttons Put Class And Menu Item controls into Tab panels Added Infotip input box Added Control Panel and Network Places radio controls (disabled for now) Added Settings User can choose path other than Desktop for Shortcut Auto accept changes, default is not New menu item on drag drop action, default is not Show environment varables...at the moment not user selectable, default is show DO not expand commands...at the moment not user selectable , default is expand Version 1.03 Switched from on event mode to msg mode with controls, this stopped recursive focus when reverting to last saved which looked cool but not workable..GRIN Built in commands now work if SCCU is loaded, at first i was against this but decided to let it run Changed from raddio buttons to edit combo box for namespace Added more namespace selections (thanks herby) - My COmputer - Control Panel - Network Places - Entire Network Icons with text can be renamed and copy/paste as shortcut Check box for Show Environment Varables and Expand Commands New menu items: New Open Save As Use internal registry write routines instead of running regedit.exe *thinking about dumping 'save registry files' routines. Version 1.04 Added: - Auto load last file - Shell Object creation (folders) have yet to test on Win98/Me but support is there - Inputbox and browse Icon for shell folder target path - Class type tab Moved into Tab control: - Name space combobox control - All user checkbox - Icon and Folder Radio controls - Inputbox and browse Icon for shell folder target path Status bar bow show current file name, if file has change then a '*' is appended to it. Do not activate namespace windows now, just tell them to refresh. Herby
^^^ If the DefaultIcon does'nt work (I've pointed it to %ProgramFiles%\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Office12\MSOicons.exe,6), you can change it by editing the reg file. Can you PM me the location of the Icon?
Slimy
There is no office 12 specific icon afaik. The office 2003 icon is in that file, icon group 7. I'm not sure if that helps

wiredbits
Pleaseeeee...i need this asap!!!!!!! Hi link to first page in this guide is https://www.neowin.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=224324 There you will find latest version, for now anyway. I am almost finished with version 1.08 and will post when all is ok. To remove a Class Icon click the check box of parent (test in this case) then goto Class menu and choose remove. SCCU only removes a Class if it is checked. Not sure what version you are using sounds like first release. Hope this helps Jim
