Pioneer Dvd-rw DVR-104

Recommended Posts

Meh, posted here before, but noone responded. I updated it with the new drivers, but it recognizes all DVDs as DVD-ROM. Only DVDs though, not CDs. I was wondering if anyone had ANY idea how to fix this. I really, really want my DVD burner back  Thanks.

I really can't fully understand what it is you are saying. It would be much easier for others to help out if you could carefully construct your dilemna.

This is your burner, right? So it's the slave, and you have either a CD-ROM or DVD-ROM on top set as the master?

You say you updated drivers. Did you check the manufacturer's site to see if there is a firmware update?

That's my first guess with what information you have given.

Sorry, I was sort of in a hurry. Alright, full dilemma: I have a CD-ROM on top as the master and the DVR-104 is the slave. I tried to update the drivers, let me put it that way. It says " Available Target is not Found." I could post a link if you want. Either way, is there anything else you need to know?

Did this problem start "after" you updated the drivers? Was it occuring before? Was that why you updated the drivers?

Have you checked for a firmware update from the manufacturer's site?

Since SP2's inception, I have seen many posts about CD-ROM and DVD-ROM drive problems...including my own.

Have you installed SP2 recently?

What was the very last thing you were doing when you first noticed this problem?

Have you updated your bios recently?

One of a few of things could be happening. (But trust me, I am not a hardware expert.)

1. Your optical drive could be going out slowly.

2. If you updated to SP2 your optical drive is not compatible with this major Windows Update. Maybe the manufacturer's site has a firmware update for your drive.

3. If you updated your bios recently, maybe that did something. Or maybe a bios update is in order.

Alright, I took your suggestion and tried the firmware update, but that didn't work. So, upgraded my BIOS and now it works. Thanks a ton for the help.

You're welcome, h2zero0. It always amazes me when I help someone with something I know so little about. These kinds of threads help me learn, too.
