Problem with task manager

Recommended Posts

Ok, when I press and hold ctrl+alt+del it says "Tast manager has been disabled by your administrator" when I'm in fact the Administator! Is there anyway to resolve this, it's become quite annoying :(

Ps: I'm on XP Home

SCV its hard to delete when you can't use regedit I'm seeing if Ad-Aware can pick it up and delete it.

Edit: Hmmm it seemed to have delete it but Bazooka Scanner still detects it, I'm gonna try rebooting.

search this FORUM for task, username: forcer, i made a post about it a few weeks ago also posting how i fixed it, ad-ware wont fix it but i suggest running it anyway to getrid of what may have caused it, basically al this virus/trojan/whatever does is adds a registry key

Hive: HKEY_CURRENT_USER

Key: Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System

Name: DisableTaskMgr

Type: REG_DWORD

Value: 1=Enablethis key, that is DISABLE TaskManager

Value: 0=Disablethis key, that is Don't Disable, Enable TaskManager
