1. Download Energy Blue

2. Download the leaked version of Royale

3. Extract Energy Blue with 7-zip

4. Put royale.theme in \WINDOWS\Resources\Themes

5. Create directory \WINDOWS\Resources\Themes\Royale

6. Put royale.msstyles in \WINDOWS\Resources\Themes\Royale

7. Create directory \WINDOWS\Resources\Themes\Royale\Shell

8. Create directory \WINDOWS\Resources\Themes\Royale\Shell\NormalColor

9. Put shellstyle.dll in \WINDOWS\Resources\Themes\Royale\Shell\NormalColor

10. Create directory \WINDOWS\Resources\Themes\Royale\Shell\Metallic

11. Put shellstyle.dll in \WINDOWS\Resources\Themes\Royale\Shell\Metallic

12. Create directory \WINDOWS\Resources\Themes\Royale\Shell\Homestead

13. Put shellstyle.dll in \WINDOWS\Resources\Themes\Royale\Shell\Homestead

14. Create directory \WINDOWS\Resources\Themes\Royale\Wallpaper

15. Put Energy Bliss.jpg in \WINDOWS\Resources\Themes\Royale\Wallpaper

16. Remove Energy Blue 7-zip folder

17. Extract leaked Royale with 7-zip

18. Create directory \WINDOWS\Resources\Themes\Royale\Shell\Royale

19. Put shellstyle.dll in \WINDOWS\Resources\Themes\Royale\Shell\Royale

20. Remove leaked Royale 7-zip folder

21. Remove \WINDOWS\Resources\Themes\Luna

22. Select substyle "Royale" from style "Windows XP style"

You might be asking about step 21. This is because Energy Blue is designed to replace Luna. If you switch substyles from Royale to one of the three other colors, you'll get the original Luna theme.

Yeah, but you get:

a) Luna integration. Energy Blue is designed to replace Luna. i.e. If you remove Luna and install Energy Blue (see my instructions), you select "Windows XP style". You have 4 color choices: Blue, Silver, Green, or Royale. The first 3 are same old Luna. The 4th is Royale.

b) The Energy Bliss wallpaper. It pwns.

Here's a download for XP users a some intructions.

1. Switch to Windows Classic first (very important)

2. Run "Royale.exe", click Install

That's it, this will overwrite Luna.msstyles, the advantage of this being you only have 1 "Windows XP Style" in your themes drop down and the fact that's it's called "Luna.msstyles" means Office 2003 uses the special colour schemes for Blue, Silver and Olive. This includes the wallpaper which gets put in Luna\Wallpaper\energybliss.jpg, the .theme file is also included which is available in the themes tab.

I already posted this as a comment in the news section but I figured I'd post it here as well. All of these other workarounds are totally unnecessary! All you need to do is have WinRAR (or WinZip will probably do the same thing). When you right-click the .exe file you download FROM MICROSOFT, you can just select "extract here as..." and it creates an archive with whatever name. Then you right-click that archive and select "extract to..." and select C:\Windows\Resources\Themes". THAT'S IT. It doesn't replace the old Luna files, it makes its own folder called "royaltheme".

Now, when you do exactly what I just said, you have the original Luna theme as the "Windows XP" theme, and the NEW one is called "Energy Blue" in Themes. When you go to the Appearance tab (and have Energy Blue as the theme), you have the choice of the three original Luna variations and the new one is called Royale.

There's no reason to do anything other than what I just said, because you don't need to REPLACE Luna, there's no point really, and the way I just explained is pretty darn easy.

If you're having problems with this method, you did something wrong, because all it's doing is creating a new folder and putting the Royale theme's files in it just like any other theme, including the original Luna theme. And just to be totally clear on this, I was using the Silver Luna theme when I did all of this, so you don't have to have it set to Windows Classic first (because it isn't replacing the original files).
