mrhack636
Can someone tell me how I can get all my desktop icons to be 64x64? I know I can go into display properties and make icons large but then it makes the icons in all my folders large as all hell. I just want the desktop. Thanks MrHack

Dazzla Veteran Posted April 16, 2002 Veteran Share Posted April 16, 2002 I've actually lost count on the amount of times that this question has been asked. This is not possible, it has been asked soooooo many times, a little search would have saved you time

f0R3
Actually, you can change the icon size to 64X64 but it will change more than JUST the icons on the desktop. If you want to try it out, edit the following Reg key: HKCUControl PanelDesktopWindowMetricsShell Icon Size and change the value to 64.. John S. Veteran Posted April 19, 2002 Veteran Share Posted April 19, 2002 not possible? I use large icons on the desktop on my home pc and small icons on the start menu. Just right-click the taskbar and select small icons. Sorry it's not the exact wording, I'm currently at work in win2k.
jardragon901
start menu yes its possible but I'm talking about huge icons in explorer, sorry didnt read it all.
GamblerFEXonlin
This really should be a request for microsoft to implement in a service pack or next version of windows. It would be a very nice feature! http://register.microsoft.com/mswish/suggestion.asp I wrote them: Let us use large icons (48x48) on the desktop while everything else (explorer) keeps the default (32x32) size. It would look _very_ good.
John S. Veteran Posted May 6, 2002 Veteran Share Posted May 6, 2002 I'm talking about huge icons in explorer ok...I didn't even think of that, I have all my folders set to detail view so that isn't a problem for me.
Frogboy Administrators Posted May 6, 2002 Administrators Share Posted May 6, 2002 (plug alert!) Actually, this would be one place that DesktopX would be quite useful: For your desktop, just drag and drop the icons you want on your desktop and you can literally set them to any size you want. Here's what I mean:
andy_rose
hmm, interessting frogboy, but i just tried that and the icon i picked looked very bad..like it had only 2-3 colors..and was very "edgy"..and thats an icon that goes up to x128..any idea why? Frogboy Administrators Posted May 6, 2002 Administrators Share Posted May 6, 2002 Hmm. Not sure. YOu're using DX 1.1 right? If you can attach the icon, I'll check it out.
andy_rose
yup, it's v 1.1 i'm using...tried with one of the mmx mercury icons..dont have any place to host a screenie or the icon..all i did was to select new object..and under appereance i browsed to the location of the icon on my hard drive and pressed apply..and it came out looking like good old commodore graphics..lol..maybe i have to do something more?
