How do I get a 64x64 icon on the desktop?

Recommended Posts

Can someone tell me how I can get all my desktop icons to be 64x64?

I know I can go into display properties and make icons large

but then it makes the icons in all my folders large as all hell.

I just want the desktop.

Thanks

I've actually lost count on the amount of times that this question has been asked.

This is not possible, it has been asked soooooo many times, a little search would have saved you time

Actually, you can change the icon size to 64X64 but it will change more than JUST the icons on the desktop. If you want to try it out, edit the following Reg key:

HKCUControl PanelDesktopWindowMetricsShell Icon Size

and change the value to 64..

not possible? I use large icons on the desktop on my home pc and small icons on the start menu. Just right-click the taskbar and select small icons. Sorry it's not the exact wording, I'm currently at work in win2k.

ok...I didn't even think of that, I have all my folders set to detail view so that isn't a problem for me.

(plug alert!)

Actually, this would be one place that DesktopX would be quite useful:

For your desktop, just drag and drop the icons you want on your desktop and you can literally set them to any size you want.

Here's what I mean:
