CubanPete
not in a million years, as long as the person is of a relativly sane nature in the first place obviously. It is a very interesting subject though, along with TV. Djmutik1013
I think it really depends on the disposition od the person playing the game.. If a person is more iclined to violence then the video games may make it happen more often. I do not think a person that does not have a bad flaming temper would be easily brought to violence Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/231159-do-games-cause-violence/page/2/#findComment-584747477 Share on other sites

Elliot B.
I think games can influence younger teenagers (13-16) because the more graphic images put into your head, the more you'll think about it and consider it okay in society. b0m8er
If you're mentally stable nothing can influence you. It's just a game - it can not cause violence in people. Games help to releave stress! Gareth
If you look at psychologicaltheories the answer would be.. yes. In classical conditioning it was believed that people learn through association. Therefore, they might associate a game with a real life situation and flare up? Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/231159-do-games-cause-violence/page/2/#findComment-584747954 Share on other sites

But this is parenting problem not game industry's. If you're old enough, mentally stable you would never associate a game with a real life! That's just insane. Mystic413212
Seriously though... I don't believe that gaming leads to violence anymore than what's sometimes seen on newscasts. The medias have a tendancy of going in too deep in some matters and sometimes might even awake curiosity as far as trying things seen on tv. So we can't blame all the violence stricly on gaming. Influences has a lot to do with it and God only knows just how many influences surrounds us. SaLiVa
Its funny how people just point and curse at something thats almost completely innocent. Grand Theft Auto might be fun to play and stuff but its got a rating. I've played through the top down original and the Vice City one, and then some more. These games have a rating 18+ and shouldnt be given out freely to little 5 year olds and 10 year olds. 13 Year Olds I can understand. Even 11 :p It all comes down to whether they had inborn violence [Full of adrenaline] or mentally unstable. Its just a good ploy to sue the game companies. And according to the media (That backs them up fullheartedly) or at least give a good impression, they have a good standing :( Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/231159-do-games-cause-violence/page/2/#findComment-584748185 Share on other sites

stanley porkchop
Games don't cause violence. Dangerous minorities do. Just kidding. But seriously: if playing Doom 3 makes you want to go out and kill someone, maybe you should start with yourself. There is such a thing as anger management. toxictoaster_737
I think we aren't asking the right question here. Why are violent video games more popular then Non-violent video games? What do violent video games offer us that non-violent ones don't. Why in general are males more attracted to video games then females? Why is there more females playing The Sims then male players? If Pornography is directly related to violence then what does this say of people who add nude skins to sim characters? If video games are an art form to be taken as seriously on a historical perspective as classical literature, then what will this art form say of us. Remember that ole Billy Shakes (lol) plays were popular because they provided people with an insight in to life that they felt sheilded from...classical love and romance, aristocracy...ect. I feel that video games do not cause violence. But it may cause desensitization to violence. The Majority of people in this forum agree that video games are not the root of violence. So that means we aren't asking the right question. Do video games desensitize people to violence? JadeWolf324
i think warped minds cause violence...i've been playing games of that nature since i was 7 and people say im a nice guy...i think your passtimes for the most part DO mold who you are, but the lens is zoomed in to close on that specific object. if you masturbate too much are u a pediphile? you are if you watch kiddy porn whilst in the action of it.
