Windows Messenger problem

I haven't been able to find a cure for this but...

I am using 4.0.0152 Windows Messenger on WinXp RC2.

I installed it with the default settings, and have it setup using my hotmail/.net passport account. Now, I have set up several .Net alerts (ebay and others) and can't seem to find them. I looked in help, and it said that if the alerts tab isn't visible, simply go to View, and Alerts....however, I do not have alerts on the View menu, only Status Bar, Toolbar and Always on Top. Also in the help file, it suggests that I click on the Recent Alerts link just above my contacts list...this isn't available. On another web page (I can't remember the exact one) it showed a series of tabs on the left hand side of the Messenger window, but I don't have that at all.

Any help would be appreciated.

It is a feature probably added after RC2. The version of Messenger that comes with XP final is 155, 3 builds on from yours.

I have the release version that comes with XP 2600. Alerts don't show up until there's an alert to view......

Once there is an alert you will get an allert icon, on top of your buddy icons. there you can view current and old alerts. once you clear them, the icon goes away and no more alerts until another one shows up...

i dont get any alerts anymore, not even the ones when someone signs on or when i get new mail. it just stopped one day and i dont know why. i have it checked to display them in the Options window. darn it, i liked those alert thingys.
