Need help and advice on website layout!

I would advise not using bars to seperate menus, just make a button that lets people know its a button.

the header- perhaps a different font? and the line under it, maybe a more gradual fade... and as i said, the bar underneath, maybe more subtle, a ruby red instead.

hope i didnt just describe something monstrously ugly.

which bar underneathe? the one that spans the whole page or the short one under the title..

the header is the name of a business, and i already made another logo with the same font, so i probably won't change it..

anything else with the layout?

@therealdave - i'm just using photoshop to create the background, i'm actually making the webpage on front page, just sticking tables on top of the background and aligning everything to the basic layout..

and i made the picture so big because i didnt want someone to have a high resolution, and have the website looking very dorky cuz the background was too small..any other suggestions to make the background smaller but still look nice?
