[NBA] Carter, Rahmin change Teams ?

Recommended Posts

Vince Carter might finally get his wish: a ticket out of Toronto.

The Raptors and Trail Blazers are discussing a blockbuster seven-player trade that would send Carter to Portland, ESPN's Stephen A. Smith has learned.

In exchange for Carter, Jalen Rose and two other unnamed players, Toronto would receive forward Shareef Abdur-Rahim, center Vladimir Stepania and guard Derek Anderson from Portland. Toronto proposed the multiplayer deal, Smith reports.

Carter asked during the summer to be traded but the Raptors had hoped the All-Star guard would change his mind. Toronto hasn't made the playoffs the past two seasons, and Sam Mitchell will be Carter's third coach in three years.

Carter told the Toronto Star in the offseason that "It's time for the truth: I want to be traded." Carter also said in a letter to fans posted on his Web site that he's not eager to wait while the team rebuilds.

"My frustration comes from the fact that we have not been able to create an equation to win ballgames," Carter wrote. "I am at the point in my career where I do not have time to wait two to four years for a team to mature."

Carter has four years remaining on his contract and remains one of the NBA's most popular players because of his highlight-reel dunks. But knee injuries have caused him to lose some of his explosiveness.

It looks like a balance trade to me, both team are getting some struggling/unhappy players. Personally, i like to see either Carter or Rahmin end in the hopeless Chicago Bull's but I doubt anyone would want Curry.

Yeah, its sad the Chicago Bulls legacy left after Jordan, Pippen, and the guy with the colourful hair, Denise Rodman retired and left.

You'd think the generation after them would've learned from the stars.

Carters an incredible player! His slams have so much "Ommph" in them, and is just full of attitude. It just fits that he's a Toronto RAPTORS player.

i dont see this helping the raptors in anyway. shareef is good buthe is just another forward they dont need. they have donylle marshal and chris bosh. they are going to need a couple good guards right now to fix this team. And I understand that carter wanted out when they were losing but why would he want out now when they are winning?

Humorous how you mentioned the generation after them would've learned. I was thinking the same thing if you honestly believe Vince Carter is that incredible. He's good, not incredible.

Who cares. Trade him to Portland, he'll be caught w/ marijuana, caught driving w/ a suspended license, arrested for domestic disturbance, or who knows...maybe he'll set an example for the other Trailblazers and find a new crime to add to their rap sheet.

Well, only star players I look up to is Kobe Bryant - He cuts through defence like a hot knife through butter and still manages to get the ball in + Foul shots to boot. Steve Nash is also good as well. Vince - Sorry, should've just put "Good" now that I think about it, but he's fun to watch when he dunks the way he does, still not Jordan level...

Toronto would be pretty good inside with Abdur-Rahim and Chris Bosh.

Vince Carter is over-rated and has been since his rookie year. He doesn't do anything spectacular other than win one slam dunk contest (Jason Richardson won 2...;)). He has no defense and hasn't improved his game since coming into the league. All of the things he does now he did at North Carolina.

If I'm Portland, I don't want to trade Derek Anderson. He not only is a solid 2-guard but he is a good veteran player to have. Stays out of trouble, low-key, and doesn't require all of the attention. And just when I thought Portland was trying to turn the corner...

Vince Carter's biggest problem is that he is afraid to drive to the net. Sure, he's been injured but you can't take all of your shots from the perimeter.

There's been at least two games this season where the Raptors have pulled all their veterans (including both Carter and Rose) in the 4th quarter only to come back for the victory using mostly bench players (and Chris Bosh).

If Carter was a hockey player then Don Cherry would say that he lacks heart. He is unwilling to sacrafice himself for the team.

Toronto will trade Shareef for a guard, maybe even Jason Kidd who is unhappy with his situation in NJ, and NJ can fill in the void that Kenyon left.

Carter might or might not like Portland, they seem to have good trees there cause it seems like every1 on their team eventually gets bagged for smokin or possessing it (They dont call em the BLAZERS for nothing) If he doesnt, theyll be happy to move him too.

Bottom line is Shareef is a horrible fit in Portland because or big guys like Randolph, Patterson, and Ratliff.
