Just got mine, No dead pixels and not any significant backlight bleed so far :woot:

there may be a touch of back bleed in the bottom left corner, but if there is, it's extremely minimal :D

please can you tell what is your revision and date ??

Tomorrow UPS will give me the second monitor , because the first had backlight in the 4 corners A01, july 2005 UK.

Sorry for my bad english.

tomorrow I upload some photos of the first monitor and the second.

bye .

I live in spain.

when you touch the screen of the 2005FPW, don't you think that its much hotter than other monitor, or getting hot much faster? my sister have a Dell 17" LCD monitor and its up and running for like 4 hours and the screen is nearly as hot as the 2005fpw while the 2005fpw has only been up for 45min... :-( and the hottest place seems to get the most backlight issue...

Bigger screen = bigger backlight = more heat? Also does the 17" dell have an external power brick? That would keep things cooler.

I had as mentioned a backlight problem in the left lower corner, but it is not special warm behind that area, so for me it is not a matter that the hottest places also is the areas with most backlight issues.

But my backlight is also "minimal" - it is there, but I think I can live with it.

(Rev 01 - May - UK)

I wanted to change it 2 times, but everytime they came with a new A01 from UK.

I asked for a A02 from UK - But so far no luck.

Does anyone else has a A02 from UK or are they only coming from Mexico ??

Michael...

well I have received today the second monitor and have more backlight that the first. and now this have 3 dead pixels.

The two monitos are A01 july 2005 of UK, I think that july is not good month of manufacturer :(:(

Dell will send me the third monitor the next week.I hope

sorry for my bad english

I just got mine yesturday, no dead pixels I could see, a huge backlight bleeding problem even though I don't care and don't plan to send it back like a lot of you guys, i'll live with it and it's still a high quality very enjoyable monitor.

Overnight I ran 3dmark05 running on it and after 3 hours my room was already burning up with heat even though generally it's pretty cool, I guess I'll have to keep the monitor off overnight.

just got mine today :woot:

not one issue at all that i can see. i have been checking it for dead pixels, none. no backlight issue in any corners. this thing is just a work of art. the best $460 i possibly have ever spent.

Okay, I do notice some backlight on the bottom right corner by the buttons, but only when I am really looking "down" on it. When it is eye level and/or slightly lower, I cannot see it at all.

I also have a A01 From Mexico. No clue what month it was made?

Still no dead pixels at all either.

Why are the A02's supposedly better?

And although I am slightly disappointed I cannot run and/or force Battlefield 2 in any widescreen resolution at all, I am still in love with this damn piece of hardware.

Okay, so I have my xbox hooked up to my del 2005pw (only the yellow wire!)

I want to use my xbox with sound though, preferrabley my headphones ( i don't want to have to disconnect and reconnect my speakers continously.., I need em for my computer).

What do you guys recommend?

Add this to the launch shortcut for BF2:

+menu 1 +fullscreen 1 +szx 1680 +szy 1050

That will make it run in native widescreen ;) Works just fine, no stretching whatsoever.

hey, I think I jsut noticed a dead pixel I didn't notice earlier. It appears in all colors, is this a stuck pixel? I thoguht it was dirt so I tried movign my hand on it along with a cleanix and there was no luck *cries*. My parents bought me this so I don't want to make them feel bad and I don't wanna have to pack it all up again or have the patience to wait for a new one, oh well.

Have ou tried gently "massaging" it with a cloth? This worked for me with a pixel that was stuck on red on my old TFT and on my Pocket PC screen :)

Thanks Bro. (Y)

I found the information last night to force the res with the shortcut, and I did not even think to put the native 1680 * 1050 resolution in.

Thanks to Photoshop's Image Size function making it easy for me to calculate, I was trying all lower aspects of the 16:10, such as 1200 * 750. 1152 * 720, so on and so forth, and none of them would work. The game would get to the part to login then crash, and/or just not start at all.

I am definitely going to try the 1680 * 1050 as soon as I get home. As funny as it sounds I actually almost do not want it to work as I know the game itself is going to slow down to a unplayable crawl.

When I tried for kicks and giggles 1600 * 1200 on my CRT with my card, a BFG 6800 Ultra OC, at Medium settings, I averaged a whopping 18-20 FPS. I really did some research on the game last night, and there is ALOT of speculation that the game is just not running properly on the 6800 series. I literally found a forum on every site dedicated to gaming or BF2 which someone started a thread about their poor 6800 series performance, and then a bunch of people chiming in agreeing stating their issues. So at this point I am thinking there is something up with the 6800 series and this game, which would not surprise me in the least. The way it's meant to be played. HAHA

Thanks Again. I am definitely going to see if it works, and if it does, I will play with my settings, even if they all have to be low, until I can get some playable frame rates.

Will report back in about 10 hours. It is going to be a long, long day. I can feel it already. :(

This monitor seems to have more 'internal exposure' than I initially thought.

Today I had a black screen screensaver on and saw some small white lines at the bottom of the screen. Thinking my eyes were going funny, I inspected closer. To my horror I could just about see about 5 backlight lamps running along the bottom of the screen.

Dell are now sending me out another replacement, oh well the upside is they agreed to letting me keep this until I am happy with the replacement. Wonder when it'll get to the stage where they offer me a free upgrade to a Dell 2405FPW  (I wish!!!)

When I play a widescreen DVD on my 2005FPW, it doesn't fill the width of the screen. Instead, there's bars on both the sides, and the top/bottom of the movie, as opposed to just the thin bars on the top/bottom. I've tried w/multiple widescreen DVDs and all yield the same result. How can I get my DVDs to show up like Finding Nemo did in the first post of this thread?

Funny my Rev01 from Uk doesn't have this menu at all. The monitor is adjusting this automatically. Works very good.

Programs like PowerDVD you also have an option like "keep movie aspects" where the movie is in the original format.

Mike

Great monitor...... :woot:
