Hypoxiaicon
Ive re-installed the Dell driver from the CD twice now. I'm using ATi Catalyst 4.12 (Latest) Im posting now in 1360x768x32 @ 60Hz And its still there whatever it is. So it has to be screen if you can see, if it was coating you couldnt see it. I check with those images on my sister PC, they look crap. No, there Screen Capture in Cyberlink DVD. Foxhound
My refresh rate is stuck at 60 and before this monitor i could go up to 75 with my other 17".I installed the Dell drivers and have up to date drivers for my Radeon 9600 Pro. Is it possible to change the refresh rate? Hypoxiaicon
^ Mine is stuck at 60Hz Also. I might Re-install my graphics card driver as When it was installed it was conencted to my old 17 Inch TFT, now its DVI and a 20 Inch Wide Screen. Ill give it a go, Doubt it will do anything though *sigh* Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/246836-dell-ultrasharp-2005fpw-20-widescreen-lcd/page/34/#findComment-585300356 Share on other sites
Symbiotic Hat
Look... its quite bad in DVD's...its like grainy... 100% DVD, No zoom or stretch. 585300264 It because you are stretching the DVD to fit a screen size of 1680x1050 (The max of the monitor). If you change your scaling to 1:1 the size will shrink to the movies default resolution and look perfect but it will be very small on screen. This happens with all monitors, not just yours, or LCD's, but ALL monitors. Hypoxiaicon
^ Scaling is 1:1. And anyway, that wouldnt effect the Desktop and Everything else. Its NOT FULL SCREEN. Thats is the DVD Image of 100%, IE. NORMAL Size. Not any bigger or smaller. Its the normal size for the DVD. randy_tho
Yeah if those are screen captures you must have some kind of setting off. It would have to be software and not a monitor defect. I'd say reinstalling vid drivers is a good idea. Starnge though. Doesn't Dell have a calibration program that came with it? NY1
Look... its quite bad in DVD's...its like grainy... 585300254 Thats because most DVD's are 480p . If you want to really see what your monitor is capable of download one of these WMV HD videos : http://www.wmvhd.com/ http://download.microsoft.com/download/d/a...1080_10mbps.exe http://download.microsoft.com/download/f/f...iker_10mbps.exe Those 2 look the best. Now you see the difference between 480p (DVD Quality) and 1080p? Hypoxiaicon
Even the 1080 dpi ones show this grainy/sparkle weird thingy effect though. Really ****es me off people who think im some sort of idiot. I've used LCD's for 4 and half years now, IM NOT STUPID. This is not a normal 'Problem' And, Steven... Well.. Thats just pathetic if im honest. I'll post in Hardware Hangout... And everyone who reads this will Reply, but they alreayd have here  Dont be so stuck up. TRY AND HELP rather then be the big guy with the smart remarks. Ive re-installed the ATi Catalyst Driver (4.12) and the Dell Driver from the CD.. It still looks crap. What now? What now? 585300570 Try going into advanced video card properties select the color tab and click on Defaults. Also press the menu button on the monitor and do the Factory Reset. If that doesn't work then I guess you just got a bad monitor. Hypoxiaicon
I defaulted the colours and reset the monitor to Factory Defaults. Still has this 'thing' Turning contrast (In ATi Control Panel) and Brightness (On the monitor) up and down its still there. Congrats on 500 Posts. Any more idea's? (By the way, it still does this with VGA) Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/246836-dell-ultrasharp-2005fpw-20-widescreen-lcd/page/34/#findComment-585300607 Share on other sites
NY1
It looks like you've tried everything. The only thing I can think of is trying the lcd on another pc but I don't think that will make any difference. Hypoxiaicon
I could take it downstairs and hook it up to my Sister pc... its only a ATi Rage 128 32MB Card though ;) That would be VGA though Or do it on my laptop, but thats VGA. Added Picture taken on my Digital camera, No flash. Not editing. Its not AS bad as that, but it gives you a idea on a much larger scale Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/246836-dell-ultrasharp-2005fpw-20-widescreen-lcd/page/34/#findComment-585300641 Share on other sites
randy_tho
Does it do it if he takes screenshots? That would be odd. Makes me think it is driver/ video card related from the DVD captures. Makes me think it is driver/ video card related from the DVD captures. 585300648 If it shows up in the screencap it's impossible for it to be a monitor issue. I'm pretty sure hypo knows this. Hypoxiaicon
I dont think I can see it in screen shots ive saved and then sent to my sisters pc... dpi is normal setting. I have changed it and all it does it make windows fonts smaller/larger. Doesnt effect its glare thing. NY1
Have to tried playing any games and do you also see this problem in games? Hypoxiaicon
Yeh, its prominant in all circumstances, Mainly lighter colours as darker colours it doesnt show up as much. TDK World Racing it shows up 18 Wheels of Steal PTTM it does. To be honest... I THINK its either screen coating or the pixels... But I dunno.. Wish one of you guys could check it out. randy_tho
The screencaps from DVDs are grabbed differently than screenshots correct? I think that it would include any artifacts from the video card itself but not the monitor. Since its showing up in these it must be a video card / driver / setting problem. ??? Have you ever ran your resolution that high on the card? Also what about the monitor color profile setting? You may find another. Try that. Hypoxiaicon
Ive never ran it at this high of Resolution before. But I can see it at all Resolutions. Highest before was 1280x1024 on my 17 Inch TFT... Colour Profile is from the Dell CD. knowleqe
If you do think that DVDs are grainy, I would suggest that you try viewing a "superbit" DVD. The video is not nearly as compressed and you will most likely get a better audio source ala DTS. The WMHD videos that were posted are very nice. If the picture doesn't look very good, then you most likely got a defective monitor. A very nice WMHD video you should download and watch at full screen would be the preview for the movie "Ray". Stand or sit at least 6 feet back and it will look like your own movie theater :D I'm sorry, I didn't see from your other posts, are you running the native resolution for the monitor? darkmark327
Why doesn't someone else just post a picture of their monitor close up so it can be compared with the image above that hypo posted (or just look at the above and say whether thats what theirs looks like), that would clear up whether it's normal or not right away.
