1 Gbps For Swedish Home Users!

Tomorrow Swedes living in Lund can upgrade their internet subscription from 10mbit to 1Gbps, which is quite some jump as 100mbit never was offered. The company to launch this service is Labs2, and it will spread all over Sweden in some time.

Imagine the possibilities! HDTV and so much more, read more on www.labs2.se if you can read Swedish!

And btw. Now we beat the korean again, not tiing ;)

EDIT: Its only 90 EUROS PER MONTH (850 SEK)

isn't Sweden's backbone still somewhat limited and archaic?

Viva Sweden. I love this Country! We own you all when it comes to Internet Connection Speed! :p

I "only" have 10Mbit, looks like i can get a upgrade soon

Hmm, if a movie takes 10 minutes to download with 10Mbit, i wonder how long it takes with 1Gbit? oh well, between 7 to 8 seconds i guess

dang, my friend has had an 100Mbit[bBB] for about 2 years there

and i heard that the apartment next to his is empty :D

There are about 101,000 people living in Lund.

I live a few minutes away from Lund and I still have to pay relativly much for 500/400 kbps ADSL (336 SEK) and I can only dream of using anything else other than copper wires, radio is out of the question. 10Mbps is availible 500m from here. I friend of mine pay somewhere around 250 SEK for 10Mbps.

It's pretty unfair, I will never get anything like that as long as I live in this area.

Not everyone in Lund can get it and it will be expensive for some to get hooked up.

Food is about 25% more expensive here than the rest of Europe (average).

Unecessary for the moment... I use BBB 10Mbit and its enough for me.

Even if you have 1Gbps you cant download that fast as most of people sharing on DC have max. of 10Mbit.

But now surely a lot of Sweden users who can afford it will move to the fast speed. Which will mean loads of Sweds hubs will be flying. Literally

Brgs

wow thats awesome. my question is... does really matter if u have a TBPS connection? i mean it shouldnt it be the same as ppl with 3 MBPS connections because it really depends how fast the servers are on the other end... right?

PS

did u know that Lund means Penis in Urdu and Hindi :D

Yes. The cables freeze solid, and the polar bears roming the streets snap the cables all the time.

JEEEEEEEBUS.

Who the hell do you think we are?

America?

I meant as in the wiring. If you didn't know what I was talking about then I guess you wouldn't know the answer. As far as my backbone research shown in europe was exactly what my question was. I doubt much has changed about it in 2 years, but maybe, so I asked.
