RazerBack
That's insane, I can't see myself needing it or justifiying the cost right now. I'm happy with my 5mbit connection. $126.093 CAD Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/251091-1-gbps-for-swedish-home-users/page/3/#findComment-585017653 Share on other sites
kingbob
Holy. Crap. I can't even get Cable/DSL/Wireless 'net where I live, in the US. My only option has been DirecWay Satellite, which isn't wonderful, but it's 100x faster than dialup. I wish I had 1Gbps internet. :( Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/251091-1-gbps-for-swedish-home-users/page/3/#findComment-585017660 Share on other sites

okidoki
I meant as in the wiring. If you didn't know what I was talking about then I guess you wouldn't know the answer. As far as my backbone research shown in europe was exactly what my question was. I doubt much has changed about it in 2 years, but maybe, so I asked. 585017635 If you did any research regarding backbones in Europe, I'm sure you bumped into TeliaNet at one point or other. Hint: they're one of the biggest actors in the states as well. Max Veteran Posted November 30, 2004 Veteran Share Posted November 30, 2004 If the UK government would give BT some damn money instead of hogging it all for themselves - perhaps we could replace our ridiculous 40 year old telephone system - which can only offer ADSL users a max of 8mbps. I can't even get proper cable where I am! biorK
Is it the same one as in Hong Kong that was recently posted in Neowin? 585021153 This is the first service in the world to offer this. Allthough Japan is very close and should release this service soon too. I'll try to translate the press release. Labs2 to offer 1 Gigabit/second to private people for 90euros/month threw the subsidary Bredband2 AB. Lund will be the first city and it starts 041201.The offer means that Labs2 via the ISP Bredband2 is the first company in the world to offer 1 Gigabit broadband to the private market. "Of course are we happy to be able to present this milestone, Sweden was first with both 10/100 Mbps and now we're breaking the Gigabit border before our asian colleagues. Allthough you should be clear of the fact that the distance have decreased greatly and by spring Yahoo BB will launch a similiar service in Japan. It's up to the politicans in Sweden to work togheter and put money in a longterm developning of the infrastructure. It's a combination of fiber and ethernet that gives us the opportunity to offer our customers this powerfull service. The price will be a plus of 600SEK for the upgrade to 1Gbps. The net that's first in line is HSB Sk?ne. Which means that the price for the end user is 850SEK(90euros) and also there's a startfee of 1500SEK and a timebind of 6 months" says Jonas Birgersson, VD at Labs2. Hills420
Wow... what would you ever need that much bandwidth for? IK47
thats pretty expensive. Is 1gbps really worth it? I mean, my web pages load almost instantly, and my hdd gets too busy to manage BT over 500Kbps.
