PureEdit
I think the touch screen is an awsome way to control games. The only game I have is mario 64 atm, but I mainly use the screen to control it. Complain to the World Trade Organization if you think they are doing something illegal, otherwise STFU and understand that a) the US and Europe is no good at manufacturing things anymore and b) service jobs that our economies are switching too are far better paid, need more education and are better for society than crappy manufacturing jobs. /endofrant. Suddenly_Dead
Cerrection: Dual-Screen 585024507[/snapback] Nintendo's site says something along the lines of them "liking to think" that it stands for Developer's System, since it's made for the developers and blahblahblahspin. They then say that Dual Screen is "another possiblity". Liquid
OK lets clear this name thing up. At first Nintendo called it DS, standing for "Developers System." Then they decided to keep the name DS and obviously could not keep it as "Developers System," so they changed it to "Dual-Screen" because well, it has two screens. Hope that clears it up. Suddenly_Dead
What does "DS" stand for?To our developers, it stands for "Developers' System," since we believe it gives game creators brand new tools which will lead to more innovative games for the worlds' players. It can also stand for "Dual Screen." Lets all just shift the thread back on topic. I like the Nintendo DS. The current games, other than Mario 64, all look dreadful. The system's future seems very promising though. TGD
I got my DS imported to the UK on Monday. I've been using the D-Pad all through Mario 64 with no problem at all. It's Thursday morning now, and I have 90-odd stars. The controls haven't been a problem for me at all, the only thing I'd say suffers without the N64 controller is the easy ability to change the camera. Touching the screen is kinda inconvinient, and although the L button does it's job well for the most part, in fast situations it can be hard. Overal, I love the system so far. Battery life is impressive (at least 7 hours for me), screen is bright and the touch screen works flawlessly. Dacracka
I instantly fell in love with my DS the day I got it. I couldn't wait to rip open the package and jump into Mario 64 DS. The Mini-DVDish casing that the DS software comes in is outstanding, as it also has a spot for on GBA game in each case. I quickly got used to the controlls and loved the comfort factor in holding the hardware. TGD
It's nice to see some decent packaging for hand hold games, at last. The games themselves are so insanley small as well. Lingwo
Very interesting, Mine is coming next week so i can't give my opinion on it till then, I am getting Mario and i think i'll get Ridge Racer when it is released. Maybe Feel The Magic: XY/XX also. I think it'll be pretty original but i think the controls will really annoy me at first :D Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/251559-nintendo-ds-my-first-impressions/page/2/#findComment-585028954 Share on other sites

majortom1981
I have the ds and its amazing. The mario 64 mini games rule. I like the game that is like bowling with the shells , the trampoline games and the ones with the sling shot. So far the battery life is nothing to be worried about. As long as you charge it when u sleep it should last you all day .I havent had it die on me yet. Also this system is awesome for left handers because the controls can be changed . The system is also lighter then it looks and is very comfortable to hold.
