poor LOC, priests are not a solo class.. you need to be in a party, or be a warlock :)

Yeah tell me about it. It's alright most of the time because my clan friends are usually playing 24/7 but several of them are over level 40 (and the others are level 25+) so other then them partying with me to help me level, it's pretty useless for them to be partied with me. But hey, I just got a kick butt staff that does 50-75 damage, so at least I can hang in there a bit in some fights heh. Plus I just got my holy fire spell!

help me choice a character... tellme which one you choose and why :p

I have a character for every class, I'd have to say it depends on what you want to do in game. Do you want to solo? Party alot? Be responsible for others health? Just go in and bash #&&$? etc?

I have to say, Warlocks kick mucho butt (they get minions which help alot, but their armor is crap like priests) and Hunters and Druids are awesome. Druids can morph into different animal forms at different levels. Hunters can tame monsters and make them pets (some pretty powerful ones at that)

But it's up to you what you want to do in game.

That is quite annoying. I really hope they add a 'sidekick/apprentice' system in the very near future but alas...Blizzard actually communicate? LoL

There are no bad choices character wise since they are all so shallow but if you are looking for 'uber' then shaman and paladin are the 'easiest' to play.

I can't speak for Shaman but the Paladin being an easy class to play? Maybe for all the poor players out there that don't use combos (read: one seal and no judgements) and don't bless anyone other than themselves. It's actually a very thought involved class to play, especially in a party when you have more than one role usually.

I just hit 46 and got this bad ass helmet.

just had to share this one...finally decided to give in and buy the game today...got the last copy at our local walmart...got it home and went to install and installer errored out on 4 drives across 2 pc's...luckily i remembered a buddy of mine telling me about a dvd he grabbed off usenet which had all 4 cd's for folks who were too lazy to swap cd's...who'd have thought i'd hafta resort to a burned download to install a retail game lol

If you read the boards (official) Blizzard won't nerf Paladins much at all. Our DPS drops like a rock after 30 but our strength is durability not damage dealing. At that level range Paladins shine more than other classes but just go look at Rogues who can clear the same kind of mobs and numbers just by dishing out way more damage. Each class has it's tricks in combat I don't see any one class being overpowered except maybe some of the Shaman's spells; but that is another discussion entirely . :p

I'd have to say Mages are a tad underpowered... there's a lot of complaint about them and warriors (don't know about warriors though... haven't played one), but for mages it's pretty simple.. the highest damage from spells in the game is NOT from mages, but from Shaman. That's pretty messed up. Shamans have a lot of neat spells and tricks they can use in both PvE and PvP, with few limitations. I mean, they can wear mail armor, do great damage in melee, have great spell damage, and high hitpoints. Mages can't wear any heavy armor (cloth only), have really NO defense other than their magic, and seem to have quite a bit of downtime. And for the tradeoffs like low armor and low hitpoints, they don't even get the most powerful spells in the game. That's just wrong :(

Only thing I figured would be nice for mages, is that they should be able to drink water while IN combat, and increase the damage on their spells. That's it. Nothing more is really needed for balance. This way their downtime isn't horrible, and their only defense is available to them with a tad more power. It would be nice to half the time needed to use evocation too... maybe every 5 minutes. It's not often enough to use for constant grinding, but it's fast enough that thru every few instance clears... you can evoke and get mana back and keep going instead of telling your party "out of mana".

Just my thoughts.. :)

I've got a few high lvl pally's that come with me on long trecks and man I have to tell you. Pally's just flat out rock. They make a warrior look bad. But they do have issues with some things but other then that they are a tank from hell.

The problem is on elite quests you are going to run out of mana no matter what you do. Gnomeregan is a perfect example of that we get past the instance for about 5 minutes and we need a cooldown to rejuice. That place is just about none stop not to mention that the deeper you get to the boss lvl the higher the elites get. The boss is a 34+ elite yet we ran into 41+ elites in that just trying to get to him.

Who's talking about quests? I'm talking about PvP... and add to this, the fact mages cannot POSSIBLY solo anything >3 levels over them, where rogues and many other classes can do it with relative ease. The resist they have is nearly 100% so you can't hit them at all, so leveling a mage becomes something of a chore since, it's difficult and time consuming to do on your own.

the fact mages cannot POSSIBLY solo anything

my mage solos mobs 3 lvls above me all the time but hes got alot of points in to frost nova so the root is ALOT longer than nornal that allows me to get to full range and start unloading with my Fireball the has 16% chance of stunning < if im thinking right >

Target Fireball fireball Frost Blast Fireball Frost nova < if its needed > run to max range pop a mana pot if needed and start to to nuke agian

If you hit them with a fire spell, there's a >50% chance they will become unrooted. You know... encased in ice, then you hit them with fire... think about that a sec. Besides, since the 3 level higher than you acn resist almost everything, he will resist frost NOVA TOO.

Which is why I call BS on your post. 3 levels above you, you won't land almost ANY hits, and by that time the mob will have closed the distance to you and killed you. The ONLY monsters I can kill 3 levels above me, are the ones that are pure casters, because I can just spam arcane explosion and out damage them in a given amount of time. If there's a melee char, I'm screwed... because he will resist my frost nova and chase me down.

Damn this game is awesome. I picked it up two weeks ago and I swear I haven't played a game for 8+ hour stints in a loooooooong time.

Right now I'm a Level 23 Dwarven Paladin... hail to Ironforge baby! :D Character name is Itor on Dragonmaw realm.

I ran through my first instance yesterday too, the VanCleef/Deadmines one... it was crazy. Nothing gets the blood pumping like going into a dangerous cave with 4 other good buddies with just each other to rely on for survival. We had 3 pallys and 2 mages so we basically had triple the chances of being able to do a resurrection. Whenever there were too many enemies, the mages just Polymorphed them and we sacked on the others :p.

It was still insanely tough though... I think we were a bit underleveled (22, 21, 21, 20, 18) so that's probably why. There were so many elite bosses in there that we had to constantly pull and kill to get our way through it. Plus when we first started there were only 4 of us... our 5th joined up towards the beginning so we had to fight our way out from the non-instanced part ... that was interesting heh.

The final area with the pirate ship took us like 1 and a half hours to get through. There were multiple times where everyone but one pally died so the last pally would just high tail it into the water since the mobs wouldn't follow :p. Amusing but frustrating at the same time.

Man, when we finally killed VanCleef 3 hours after we went into the Deadmines, we were an elated bunch.

It was still an awesome experience though :). Bring on the next instance!

Mana shield and blink. Mages do it to me all the time in PvP--then I just pull out my mount, lol.

Loging problems once again with the Blizzard servers. This makes it 5 times within 2 weeks I've been cool with the ones in the past but now I'm ****ed off. This is just bs Blizzard needs to get a net team in there that knows how to fix that stupid fin login server for good this patch a fix 3 times a week is about to **** allot of people off.

Congrats on making it out alive. I'm on the same server and I've seen you running around a few times. Maybe we should team up sometime. ;)

A tip for all those having a hard time leveling... I have learned from the people in my guild, (many of whom are 60 now), the fastest way to level after level 20, is to grind straight on mobs. Just kill mob after mob after mob solo. You will level really quickly though since it's a very monotonous task to do, it will seem like it takes forever.

If you use Cosmos, you can see how much XP/hour you are grinding out, which is a good way to figure how long it's going to take you to level, doign what you're doing. My experience as a mage, at level 37 now, is to kill things 3 or 4 levels under me to maximize XP and minimize downtime. Granted I might be able to fine tune what I'm doing... but the money I make right now I'm pretty darned happy with, in addition to the daily grind. :)

I do quests solo as well, the xp you get from killing the mobs to get to your objectives only helps you. The only thing I party up for is instances, and the reason to do that is well... you'll die otherwise :D

And DON'T GET DISCOURAGED. Levels will come... and my guild being all over level 45... and me being the odd man out -- because I work so much and have so little time to play -- I always feel left out. But I am not concerned, because I'll hit 60 eventually... and then it won't matter much :)
