If thats the case why is everyone on the WoW forums going on like they have been given a gift from god... My payment comes out 20th, so being pushed 5 days to the 25th doesn't exactly benefit me in anyway except i hold on to my money for an extra 5 days, blizzard are still getting my payment in full.

I'm not sure what else they could do. They're replacing the time lost due to being unable to log in to play.

But it is 5 free days. What else they could do?

Doing nothing would have been better than this. I'll stop complaining because it's not like i'm bothered or on the verge of quitting or anything, i just think it's misleading... some sort of in game perk would have been a better gesture.

Because thats what they have done: nothing, but dressed it up like compensation. Taking my payment a few days later is not compensation, i still pay and they still get paid.

You get 5 days for the issues that they had for launch, meaning your subscription is extended for 5 days. They already fixed most of the issues. What's the problem here?

no problem, as i say i'm not bothered, I just don't think it's compensation.

From a leveling perspective it's the best xpac yet.

Currently level 97 can't wait to see if the heroic dungeons are good.

I agree! I'm really paying close attention to every detail in the game. That's pretty different for how I typically play WoW when questing. I typically have some Netflix or some other video on another screen watching it while my WoW playing is more-or-less on autopilot.

This xpac has some good questing though. I've been taking my time. Only level 94.

What would have been?

I think adding days as credit for server problems is fine, personally.

At some point you cancel your subscription (I imagine..who knows, maybe you die with it and in that case it really doesn't matter). Anyway, at some point you cancel your sub and at the end of the sub is out 5 extra days than it would have been otherwise.

Did you want some kind of in-game toy, pet, or mount as remembrance of server problems? I think a Whambulance toy that would be fitting.

While i think adding 5 days is enough they could have gone a little further. Like creating a new pet for the occasion and giving it for free. The pet could have been some sort of funny clin d'oeil to the whole situation.

Well that's my point, for the majority of people it doesn't really matter. The only way anyone actually see's the free 5 days is if they cancel their sub, but if they are cancelling then they probably don't want to play anyway, there is only a small percentage of players that will actually enjoy the 5 free days, the rest of us, as continuous paying customers won't see the 5 days extra.

I think an in-game pet or mount would have been much better because it benefits everybody.

Well people on the forums were demanding free play time and that's what they got. I'm really not sure it's worth 2 or 3 pages of discussion.

For something that is actually relevant to the game. I started my quest for a legendary ring yesterday. You can't make it very far into the process right now because the content simple isn't there to do it. But it is a free ilvl 640 epic ring that can be upgraded to ilvl 680 without too much issue once you start doing heroics.

I have to wonder how difficult it will be to finish it though. In all my time playing GW2 I never managed to make any legendary weapons because it was so incredibly grindy and depended too much on rng. So I wonder if it will be a comparable grind.

Easy = if you're lucky you can get them in 1 day. Hard = requires a lot of work.

Thunderfury - 3 item drops. 2 very rare with 1-3% drop, 1 with 75% drop. Very easy, but boring and tedious.

Warglaives - 2 drops, 5% each. Very easy, again, boring and tedious.

Bow in Sunwell - 7% drop. Same as above.

Rogue daggers in Dragon Soul. Requires at least 30+ runs of the raid in order to get everything even with guaranteed drops. Bunch of quests before the raid and require killing elite mobs and 10,000+ gold to complete. Hard.

Cloak in Pandaria. Starts at the beginning of the expansion, ends with the last patch. 6 weeks of must-do Valor farming to cap. Multiple runs of T1 raids for 10-25% drop rate of about 25 items. Loads of gold to get the gems needed for the weapons enchants. Multiple runs of ToT raid for about 10% chance of about 25 items. Kills of several world bosses requiring raid groups, few dozen quests in between with very difficult elites. Must-do PVP battlegrounds. Very hard.

Yeah all that sounds tedious. At least the the parts we can't finish now aren't all that hard to do once you get into heroics.

Speaking of  that, I'm kind of disappointed blizzard reverted the dungeon loot changes. Everyone had a chance to get their own item, now everyone has to roll on 1 item. Seems less productive. But instead of just adjusting it they took the lazy way out and reverted it completely so in all my dungeon runs yesterday I didn't get anything useful. Where before that I got 1-2 things a run.

So I just put Win7 back on my desktop and re-activated my account.  It has been at least 2 or 3 years since I played.  Just ran an instance called "Vortext Pinnacle" with a pug group.  Nobody died, and the tank said he kept having groups wipe, but we were chatting it up and like 5 of us were recent re-activations.

Ahhhh, the sweet addiction is back, :-)

Starting to feel like maybe re-activating my WoW account wasn't such a grand idea.  I've been playing Skyrim a lot the past week or two, and that game, like all the other Elder Scrolls games, is amazing.  The attention to detail it just unreal.  I was roaming around the other day and happened upon a random cave.  I went in, found a journal talking about a guy who had gone in with his buddy to buy this old gold mine that appeared to be a dud.  He went to town for supplies, and came back to find his friend gone, presumably having left and given up on the mine.  This is all written in the form of a journal/letter left on a table in this mine.  I walked around and actually found a secret room with the guy's skeleton half buried under a pile of rocks, and a vein of gold right beside him.  He had found gold, and his friend assumed he'd abandoned him when he went out for supplies.  This was not a quest, nobody asked me to go here, it was just there, an interesting little find in the land of Skyrim.  Quests seem to ask you to do different things all the time, and the first person view kind of helps with immersion.

I've tried playing WoW for the past day or two, and it just seems like a huge repetitive grind fest.  The story lines for the quests are interesting if you take the time to read them but it's always one of a couple of things.

- Go to designated area, kill specified enemies, and take an item off their bodies.  (Most of the time these items aren't available unless you're on the quest, kind of spoils it)

- Go to designated area, look for specified objects laying around sparkling and collect them.  Items are usually surrounded by mobs, or may spawn a mob to attack you when you collect it.

There are a few exceptions, but they're rare, and I'm already getting REALLY bored of being lvl 85 and still being asked to, "Go here, kill those things, collect 8 insignia from their bodies, and come back to me."

I dono, I'll give it til' the end of the month since I paid for it, but it's not looking good for me sticking around.

I think you're kind of missing the main part of this expansion and that is building up your garrison. It's great fun hunting down new minions and all the other stuff. Sure it's grindy but what mmo isn't?

I did my first heroics earlier tonight and we died a lot but I still had a lot of fun. I'm hoping to get into level 100 Molten Core sooner than later now that the people I play with are above ilvl 615.
