I have a folder that has folders and files inside it which have weird characters in them. Some folders I try to delete and nothing happens, other folder I try to delete and get an error message "cannot delete file: cannot read from source file or disk"

The files show up has being many gigabytes in size when I mouse over them, but when I look at the properties of them they are zero byte files. The folders are "folders are empty" when I mouse over them and are zero bytes in size when I check the properties.

Attached is a picture of what it looks like in explorer. The disk they are on is a fat32 partition on my slave disk and my Win XP Pro is on my master disk which is a NTFS partition. both are on the same ide channel.

How do I delete these folders and files? Thanks for the help.

chkdsk worked. it converted the entire folder into one file and i was able to delete the file. i didn't try safe mode and have no idea what the del \\?\path command is. maybe saying in which directory it should be run in and more details would be more helpful than just stating a command. thanks for the help.
