worst genre of music ever

I can listen to pretty much any music. My favourite geners are Industrial, EBM, Synth Pop, etc etc. But I can listen to anything. My car is stuck on the station "JJJ". It provides all kinds of music, but it's sometimes half decent.

Country... I can even listen to that. I can listen to anything, as long as it's not forced on me.

You could play me all of the music by my favourite band, and it would annoy the **** out of me.

I'd say that Rap/Hip Hop are the only genres that I can't get into.

I was in Adelaide and saw the finale on Channel 10. Those kids rocked. But I can't stand listening to it on the radio. It's just not the same.

I seem to appreciate the tallent, but not the music. If that makes sense.

I don't mind rap so much as I hip-hop...in fact I DESPISE hip hop and RnB but there's some old skool rap that I do like. Back before it was all that bitches and booze bull**** they're feeding people today.

Country is pretty crappy, but I can understand why some people like it. I don't hate it as much as Punk...Punk is worthless. Its not pretty, its not hardcore, it doesn't sound good at all its just stupid. A monkey could hit the same powercord over and over and over and over and over and any animal with an oposable thumb could hit the same drum and cymbol over and over and over and over and over and over :angry:

And 90% of pop is crap

As for what I do like...well that list is even longer than the list of what I hate...but right now I'm listening to The Sound of Silence by Simon and Garfunkel (Y)

90% of pop, 100% nowadays, 80's was poptastic, 90's it declined to cheap cover versions. 00's it is mostly cover versions sung badly by manufactured boi/grl bands (bands huh?)

The only pop that is worth a listen is Britpop.

I don't really have any problem with any music even though I voted for Rap.

What I have problem is people who think their music (mostly hard-core metal or supa gangsta hip-hop :rofl: ) is super cool and unbelievably hot compared to other genres.

And thos who say that all other musics are so super uncool and unbelievably unhot (I know it's not a word), and all other music genres suck, especially when it comes to Pop music.

Music exists to entertain you, not to give you insight of politics or make you feel so sophisticated or smart, and all music genres entertain different people in different way.

The reason I voted Rap music is because I value the artists' voice and their singing ability the most, and I feel good when some black female singer holds high note for long time, like Whitney Houston or Donna Summer.

I know other people value other things than mine and I will respect them, though disagree with them.

i don't think any one genre of music is bad.... i think that there is bad music and good music.. genre has nothing to do with it... i'm mostly into punk rock, everything from screeching weasel to nofx BUT there is some screeching weasel i hate. same with other music i hate... some of it i love.. there is some country that kicks ass!! and some hiphop that is the ****... there is crappy techno and awesome techno.. there crappy punk rock and awesome punk rock... i think this poll should be null and void.

But see, you have this in every genre.

-Metal

In metal, you have groups like Ayreon that are rather original, blend many styles to create their unique sound and write about subjects like mankind destroying itself in the future. Then you have your run of the mill, see how much black clothes we can wear, play the same riff for 3 minutes and never deviate from a monotenous blastbeat metal bands.

-Rap

Turn on MTV. While I haven't for a while, I'm sure I can guess what you'll see in terms of rap. People wearing oversized clothes talking about how much money they have and how many women they can go ****, using a sampled beat looped over and over again. Or you could go listen to more underground bands, that feature an actual drummer and bass player, that rap about more worthwhile subjects etc.

-Death Metal

Growling, blastbeat using "We're more evil than you' death metal bands are dime a dozen. I don't know of any metla genre off the top of my head filled with more generic and worthless bands. However, you'd miss out if you stopped there. Opeth creates progressive, technical 10 minute songs with beautiful transitions between soft acoustics and crushing death riffs. Death, although now dead (Kind of ironic, heh), actualy used melody, and many of their albums were filled with introspective lyrics about personality, emotions and mental conflicts. Later on they took some experimental turns and continues to pave their own path, using jazz influenced interludes and a very distinct vocal style compared to other groups of the genre.

Point is, every genre is going to have it's crap. But if you look hard enough, you generally find good music. Seeing the 3 most commercial rappers on MTV then decided every band from that genre sucks IMO is a very ignorant way of thinking. (Not trying to say you do this BOOG, or any othe rspecific person for that matter)

Punk Rock. those songs sound to me like little kids sing them...it annoys me so much :x

but then again, i know many songs in that genre that i do like.

About rap, this is a very wide genre. there are rap songs with worthless lyics but nice rhythm/beat, songs with meaningful lyrics but annoying rhythm/beat, songs with both meaninigful lyrics and nice beat, and the totally disgusting songs with nothing good in them. I hate only the last group i mentioned. I know the lyrics often offend women and such, but when the song has a good rhythm I often enjoy hearing it.
