[Definitive] Sony PSP Thread

mercury just arrived.

It's a great time-waster game in case anyone is interested.

That-is-to-say that if you want something for when you're bored, this is it.

The only reason I am not cancelling is because it is a Sony stick for $95 shipped. Where else am I going to get a deal like that? This is an order I placed with DELL after my order with Best Buy was backordered for weeks.

what are the things to look out for when buying a new psp? thx

585845849

Open it and turn it on at the store. Check for dead pixels, air bubbles, sticky shoulder buttons. Replace until you get a good one.

Shouldnt be a problem now though. The latest shipments havnt had nearly as many problems.

deciding whether to buy psp in canada or hongkong.

if i buy in canada, whats up with all the dead pixels and other problems. IF i buy one here, and it has errors, can I get it replaced immediatly, refunded?? OR i need to wait for manufactuer warranty?

open box but busted psp, can you refund?

thx

hey guys i have a couple of questions

1. how convenient is it to use the psp as just an mp3 player, talk about size, ease to scroll songs, search for songs, how to switch between songs (without looking at the screen), how to carry etc

2. if i had an episode of lets say, apprentice, hdtv, xvid, 350mb, and convert it to the psp (with acceptable audio and video quality) how big would the output file be.

thanks for replies.

edit: is there shuffle, repeat functions?

Sundayx, not sure about exactly what you want, but I was able to get a 200mb episode of family guy down to 60mb looking/sounding nice. Then I brought it down to 30mb sounding nice (I'm not that picky with audio....) but blurry at times.

In the PSP if you select English you won't see any more English in the PSP OS, and if you buy non-Jap games then you won't see Japenese there either.

So, want all English? Cheapest option right now is a Jap PSP + US games.

That's what i've done from Lik-Sang.

Can't wait, only a few more days.

has any-one got metal gear acid, if so is it any good?

my friend has it, i beat it, it's pretty cool, but short, it feels alot like final fantasy tactics where your options are determined by what cards you have

I'm moving to Britain at the end of the year... The only thing a region 2 player (ie a Japanese one) would give me is the ability to play UMDs from Region 2, right? So if I don't care about UMD movies, I'm assuming I'm better off to just pick up a Region 1 PSP from any local store right now?

I wish they'd release a $199 non 'Value pack' here.

Yep, that's pretty much true. The region coding will only affect the movies so if you don't care too much about them you may as well get the Region 1 PSP now. The UK PSP won't be out till September.

Just a quick one, whats an UMD?

585866927

UMD is the new format of disk, universal media disk or something like that.

Its the disks the psp games and movies are put onto.
