kljs Posted December 12, 2004 Share Posted December 12, 2004 I try to set virtual drives like this E:\ ->mapped to D:\ (mapped name is E:\) access rule to E:\ given to Mr.X account. problem is when I logged into that Mr.x account, it lists 1. It lists D:\ (home directory of Mr.x) 2. E: is also listed. 3. clicked on E:\ 4. listing of files on E:\ is listed but when I wanted to download something it gives me an error (550 something about files/directory doesn't exist!) Use a ftp client to access Mr.x account.(smartftp) 1. It lists the home directory for Mr.x with E: in it 2. Click on E: 3. nothing is listed on E:\ Shows listing in browser Doesn't show listing in ftp client! Help if anyone knows what I did wrong? 0 +thexfile Subscriber² Posted December 13, 2004 Subscriber² Share Posted December 13, 2004 It looks like you haven't set up a Home/root folder? Find or make an empty folder and make that your home/root then set up your virtual folders. Try that out. 0 +thexfile Subscriber² Posted December 13, 2004 Subscriber² Share Posted December 13, 2004 Serv-u seems to do better when folders are mapped... also, a good ftp server "FileZilla Server" it's free and uses less resources. 0 kagaku Posted December 13, 2004 Share Posted December 13, 2004 If you prefer something small and simple: http://www.whitsoftdev.com/slimftpd/ It uses around 2 megs of RAM and has a simple text file for configuration. Did I mention that it's only a 20kb download? Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/256252-serv-u-ftp-server-60/#findComment-585093864 Share on other sites More sharing options...
0 +thexfile Subscriber² Posted December 14, 2004 Subscriber² Share Posted December 14, 2004 The way I set my ftp is make a User account then in that account go to Dir Access and put in drives or folders... It works ;) but, all my shared folders/files are on a slave drive so I keep it simple that way. Just a thought. Open Serv-U Administrator and check License to see if anything like something not valid or recognized is shown. Question
kljs
I try to set virtual drives like this
E:\ ->mapped to D:\ (mapped name is E:\)
access rule to E:\ given to Mr.X account.
problem is when I logged into that Mr.x account, it lists
1. It lists D:\ (home directory of Mr.x)
2. E: is also listed.
3. clicked on E:\
4. listing of files on E:\ is listed but when I wanted to download something it gives me an error (550 something about files/directory doesn't exist!)
Use a ftp client to access Mr.x account.(smartftp)
1. It lists the home directory for Mr.x with E: in it
2. Click on E:
3. nothing is listed on E:\
Shows listing in browser
Doesn't show listing in ftp client!
Help if anyone knows what I did wrong?
