Pocket PC 2002

Just upgraded my iPAQ and all I can say is WOW!!! It's like running a mini version of WinXP on your handheld. The only disappointment I've come across is that the Windows Media Player (there aren't a lot of options out there and it isn't that bad) and the Microsoft Reader aren't included in the upgrade. I can't seem to find a download for either on them on the Microsoft website. Anyone have any ideas? Thoughts? Reactions? Spare change?

Hmm, how do you update your Pocket PC? I have an HP Jornada, can I do this?

The update I have is for the Compaq iPAQ. I'm quite sure you'd have to get the ROM update from HP. It should be available now as the new devices are coming out with it already installed.

If you have an HP 54x series, forget it! It does not have flash ROM and CANNOT be upgraded. I have a 548 and went out and bought the new HP 567. What an incredible difference!

If the iPaq user upgraded, I think it may have been with a download ferom the net. The upgrade CD that Compaq is shipping has MS Reader 2.0 on it as well as the new Media Player. For now, that is the only way to get them. By the way, MS Reader is 1000 times better than the old version, despite the Passport Activation issue.

Here's the MS site with tons of screenshots and features of Pocket PC 2002. It looks good and i'll be getting a compaq Ipaq with it soon.. FREAKING $500 US though.. oh well that's what girlfriends are for!

This is my HP567 screen shot. Literally any picture can be used on the Today screen. This is a SciFi pic I liked on www.pocketthemes.com. They've started a site dedicated to the new themes.

I had to cut back the res to allow it to be posted so this shot probably doen't do the screen justice.

I f*cking hate you! hehe .. i wish i had a Pocket PC SOOO BAD!! I almost bought a black and white one (16 shades of gray) for $200 cuz i wanted one so bad. It was the Ipaq 3150. It looks good and comes with everything the more expensive ones does but less ram and the B&W screen which is a pain to read in Flourosent light and direct light!

I will sell my HP548 - currently going for about $240 on ebay

Also, Dell has 20% deals all the time. I got mine for $456, free shipping. Tough to beat. My HP J548 last Christmas was $549!
