neufuse Veteran Posted January 3, 2005 Veteran Share Posted January 3, 2005 What network will the super bowl be played on this year? I just got HDTV and really wanted to watch it in HDTV, but if it's on FOX that's a no go, because FOX only brodcasts in 480p here digitally... CBS brodcasts in 1080i here... and we also have the NFL Network in 1080i Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/265837-superbowl-station/ Share on other sites

neufuse Veteran Posted January 3, 2005 Author Veteran Share Posted January 3, 2005 Never seen a game in HDTV, I want to someday. 585219270 HDTV NFL blows away standard tv.. we just this week got NFL network in HD on adelphia it looks good, although all the old games are still in 4:3 because HD wasnt around back then, but the newer seasons on it are in 16:9 1080i HD and look awesome. watched the past 5 steelers games in 1080i HD, and it's so clear you can see peoples faces in the crowd that in standard definition would just be a blur Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/265837-superbowl-station/#findComment-585219606 Share on other sites
DreAming in DigITal
Yea I got the NFL Sunday Ticket with DirectTV and it is unreal watching those games in High Definition...It's kind of like your sitting right there in the stands or something. I heard thought that DirectTV is making a big push to have alot more channels in High Definition within the next few years. That will be nice :) Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/265837-superbowl-station/#findComment-585219852 Share on other sites

neufuse Veteran Posted January 3, 2005 Author Veteran Share Posted January 3, 2005 Early 2006, it will be the standard signal. 585223462 yeah the standard, but they don't expect even half the stations to be broadcasting it until 2010... digital will be there as the new format 2006/2007 but not necessarly in HD just digital Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/265837-superbowl-station/#findComment-585225293 Share on other sites
coolmonk
Early 2006, it will be the standard signal. 585223462 HD will never be the standard signal. No company has even begun to mention anything about HD being standard. Everything is supposed to be broadcasted "digitally" by 2006/2007, but then again the dates keep getting pushed back and back so who knows...we might not see it till late 2007 or even 2008. A digital signal in itself is still not 1080i so I hope you don't think all channels on TV are going to be HD...cause they won't be. For those of you who still have an old CRT incapable of displaying HDTV, don't worry as you'll still receive an analog signal. I hope ESPN outbids them both and they show the AFC games and FOX shows the NFC games. But at least the crew around them do a great job. Those camera angles and graphics are the best bar none.. including ABC or Fox. I guess I have forgotten how bad NBC was, but with CBS doing the games, that's easy to do. I dunno, but my CBS HD looks better than my FOX HD, no doubt. I actually can't stand FOX. I wish it was with John Madden and Al Michaels on ABC! I also like the CBS guys better than the FOX guys too. My second choice would be the Sunday night ESPN crew. I think they do a great job - I like Joe Theisman too  . CatnipOligarchy
tends to be the NFC fans prefer FOX, and the AFC fans prefer CBS.. its a matter of familiarity. personally, i like fox.
