0 VidER
Thanks for the intersting comparison! Of course microsoft's is still in BETA phase.. maybe they are still working on it.. They might tweak the speed.. And don't forget that Ad-Aware has updated definitions.. while Microsoft's isn't even a final release. VidER

0 zeta
Offhand... I'd have to say it look like MS did better... because all Ad-aware found outside of 1 browser hijack was a bunch of cookies and things in the most-recently used list...
0 ZZOOzzoo
It's really not a good comparison, because there are a lot of spywares that Ad-Aware can't catch, and there are a lot others that MS AntiSpy can't catch.
0 Larney
Yeah, take into account the BETA in the name :/ Nice comparison and you can see the difference in UI :p
0 xxdesmus
this is just how antispyware/adaware is right now.... there isn't one that does it all, you need to use at least 2 to do the job well. :pinch:

0 Rapier
Ad-aware Found 26 Object, fine, but did you click on the + (Under the Threat Name) on MS AntiSpy to see how objects it had found related to those apps ? My MS Antispy takes less than 13MB of memory and it doesnt show in Task Manager when minimized (I Have realtime Protection Enabled).

0 anthony
The thing that bothers me with Microsoft AntiSpyware, is the "SpyNet" thing. It reminds me of SkyNet from Terminator movies. I keep thinking of Bill Gates at CES talking about intergration and seeing these robots ...wow, it's...
0 The_Decryptor Veteran Posted January 6, 2005 Veteran Share Posted January 6, 2005 Just a question for the origional poster, did you run a quick scan in AntiSpyware, cause if you did, it wont pick up cookies, that's only in the full scan. 0 xxdesmus
I just thought about this, isn't MS AntiSpy just GIANT rebranded? Which would mean in theory, that this is a final product, but MS just plans on improving on it...hence the Beta 1 label. Perhaps I am misunderstanding MS's purchase of GIANT.

0 BigCheese
When using MS antispyware, i noticed that it is really slow. It takes gaes for it to run an update and doesn't even give you an indication if there is no need to update. It also takes ages after the scan to delete the spyware and report it to SpyNet.
