X3M
this tweak is pretty good. it will make the Local Network/ Internet browsing faster: IE 6.0 wants to run a schelduled task everytime it connects to a server. This results in slower browsing. To disable this delete the following key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionexplorerRemoteComputerNameSpace{D6277990-4C6A-11CF-8D87-00AA0060F5BF} Editmode ;) Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/2677-speed-up-network-browsing/ Share on other sites
Captain Phatty
I am not sure what you mean by "scheduled task". Can you be more specific? Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/2677-speed-up-network-browsing/#findComment-17718 Share on other sites
aco Veteran Posted October 19, 2001 Veteran Share Posted October 19, 2001 X3M: Do you know if that tweak will speed up browing in Network Neighbourhood? The reason I ask is that I suggested it to CyberDude earlier today as a possible solution to his problem. https://www.neowin.net/bboard/showthread.ph...=&threadid=2651 Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/2677-speed-up-network-browsing/#findComment-17728 Share on other sites

Steven P. Administrators Posted October 19, 2001 Administrators Share Posted October 19, 2001 Well that tweak WILL speed up Network Neighbourhood browsing as the machine will not request the target machine if it has any scheduled tasks ;) Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/2677-speed-up-network-browsing/#findComment-17734 Share on other sites

CustardFD
Hey! Thanks to whoever suggested the code first. I run my network on NT line code with the exception of one machine that is running on 95 so that I can use a dongled DOS(!) program that uses direct hardware access. This machine has been slow to access from the network but now its as fast as all mu other machines.
