Assuming you have an Apple keyboard. The Logitech they show in the picture still requires 2 USB ports.

Microsoft and Logitech's higher end models also have built in USB. If you're so worried, just look for them, between the three companies you're looking at the only 'good' keyboards and mice on the market.

But why do you need a screen?? I always use the "shuffle" on my iPod mini, hardly ever look at the screen except to check battery levels.

That's just an excuse to support Apple. You need a screen to see what is playing now - what if I want to listen to particular song... I admit I use shuffle sometimes, but most of the time - skip through to the song I want to listen. :pp

Depends which screen/keyboard and mouse you get :)

So, at the end of the line, it's probably the same as buying a full mac? Thought so. Cheers for the info.

http://www.apple.com/emac/specs.html Just compare the specs. It's a rip off.

I am not real familiar with macs.  Can you hook this mini mac up to a monitor I use for the pc, or does it have to be "apple compatible"?

I just found the belkin kvm on the apple store, I guess that answers my question.

Your PC monitor is most likely VGA, and the monitor port on all new Macs are DVI, all you need is a converter, google "DVI to VGA".

They are standard DVI and VGA ports, so yes

You only need a KVM if you want to run 2 computers on one monitor.

Look, I don't care. But if Apple was marketing this to people who are going from a PC to a Mac, most don't have keyboards with USB on them. Most have at least 2 other USB devices, and no use for firewire. If all Apple wants people to worry about is the cost of the box itself, I think there should have been so more USB ports. My two cents.

Ordering mine now.

You don't need a screen to know what song is playing. Presumably you have ears? Listen to the music. Your brain makes a connection and you know what song is playing from the lyrics, the instruments, the tune, etc, etc. No screen needed.

Anyway, for ?69 (UK price for the smaller capacity one) you can't really complain about the lack of a screen.

I'm waiting for Apple to get rid of CRT completely and focus on enhancing their Studio Displays. I'm also holding my breathe for Apple Plasma Displays *Wink, wink*
