Nick Sheldon
Compaq SFF Deskpro P3 733 768MB Radeon 7000 PCI DVD Rom MS FF Sidewinder Pro 2 Joystick MS Sidewinder Gamepad PS2 joypad > with converter N64 Joypad > with converter Wireless Keyboard and Mouse Software MYHTPC MAME The above system is very very quiet, and hooks straight into my TV. Very pleased with it, and works flawlessly. :) Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/270805-my-set-up-for-anyone-thinking-of-setting-up-one/ Share on other sites
Groovedude
what type of case ?... i think with a MC pc you need a nice case to make it blend in. Pink Floyd Veteran Posted January 13, 2005 Veteran Share Posted January 13, 2005 nice no need for fast and noisy system for theatre good setup you should try some foam to stick on your side pane case that will decrease noise more Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/270805-my-set-up-for-anyone-thinking-of-setting-up-one/#findComment-585285598 Share on other sites

It's really quite diddy. It fits in one of the slots under the tv. It's actually smaller than my Sony DVD player. As for sticking foamin it, it really doesn't need it, as the only thing you hear occasionally is the HD. The only thing going against it, is that it's beige, but that can easily be solved. Very very cheap rig too :) The only thing I might upgrade is the Radeon 7000 to a 9200 (not that it's needed). TheLegendOfMart
Only problem with SFF cases, most of the time they dont accept full height TV Cards, and if your going down the Windows Media Center route all the compatible cards are full height pci cards Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/270805-my-set-up-for-anyone-thinking-of-setting-up-one/#findComment-585285691 Share on other sites

Nick Sheldon
It's one of the company's old redundant pc's. So I got it for nothing too :) I forgot to mention, I also added a 160GB HD, and it also has a Windows 2000 PRO licence attached to the PC. It's also linked to a Linksys switch, which in turn links to my ADSL Router - DSL504, so I also get to surf on TV :) Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/270805-my-set-up-for-anyone-thinking-of-setting-up-one/#findComment-585285707 Share on other sites

Your radeon has a passive heatsink and radeon 9200 has a fan.. so more noise my 2 cents Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/270805-my-set-up-for-anyone-thinking-of-setting-up-one/#findComment-585285710 Share on other sites

I can put any cd/dvd rom in it. The one you have pictured there only accepts Compaq specific rom's (I might be wrong) Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/270805-my-set-up-for-anyone-thinking-of-setting-up-one/#findComment-585285711 Share on other sites

It isn't a necessary upgrade anyway. Cheers. But DABS don one of their value cards which doesn't have a fan > http://www.dabs.com/uk/Search2/Product+Det...se=radeon%20pci Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/270805-my-set-up-for-anyone-thinking-of-setting-up-one/#findComment-585285720 Share on other sites

Nick Sheldon
Here you go. The other two controllers are on my other pc's at the mo. The keyboard looks like it's attached by a wire in the photo, but it isn't, it's wireless. Sorry about the mess ;) Like I say, the only thing I would do in the future is paint it black, so it blends in more.
