Dazzla Veteran Posted March 12, 2005 Veteran Share Posted March 12, 2005 Look at the resolution, 1280*768. It's no good as a PC monitor, that res is far too low for that size (imo). Omeglidan
On the eve of my new purchase of the 2405, I find myself wary of the 1900x1200 resolution that comes with it. I have a 21in CRT and use 1280x960. I use this resolution because I really really hate everything being so small at higher resolutions. I just tried an experiment that I have tried many times in the past. I switch my CRT to 1600x1200 (closest i can come to 2405 native 1900/1200) and try to adjust all the settings to the point where I can actually see the tiny next on web pages without extra effort. I played with DPI scaling...font sizing....IE font override. But all these efforts fall short in some way to giving me a good viewing desktop. The fonts may be big, but the menu and buttons are still not properly scaled. I can almost live in windows with all the large fonts (which makes them almost BOLD typeface) but I cannot live with the tiny text on the net. Is there any solution that I'm overlooking? I really want this monitor and am perfectly willing to spend the cash, but why spend that kind of money if it will give me an inferior experience. If I buy a 24in monitor but scale everything up, am I really gaining any extra desktop space? In a perfect world I would be able to use 1280x960 on this new panel without all the stretching... Please help... Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/273396-dell-2405fpw-ultrasharp-flat-panel-monitor/page/11/#findComment-585608112 Share on other sites

Basically, text is easy to read. It's a joy infact.
