bilemke
Has Microsoft an url for that? If not, then forget about it! The same as SP3......also not official.. 586698018[/snapback] Not to get to far off subject.. But, dont want them.. Then dotn use them.. They refer to it on several sites as "Unofficial SP3".. right there.. "Unofficial"... 2nd, how many service packs have you installed/slipstreamed or for that matter even downloaded in your life? Last I check service packs tend to be one (relatively) large signed exe.. Not a rar file containing many many exes. BTW, want to check if a hotfix exists.. Take this url http://support.microsoft.com/kb/890582/EN-US/ replace 890582 with whatever the kb number in the file name is. So, for this one with the updated shell32.dll file we get.... http://support.microsoft.com/kb/906472/EN-US/ If it is something effecting you.. try it at you own risk just like it says at the bottom of the page at that url.. You can not donwload the unofficial ones from MS without getting ahold of them and giving you a temporary download link. That is why he hosted it on rapidshare so we dont all have to contact them if we want to give it a try. BTW (again), thanks Knacki99 (and all other for posting info regarding new hotfixes. The information for unnofficial ones that are not on windows update can be a pain to find on Microsoft's technet..

parkd1
Microsoft Color Control Panel Applet for Windows XP The Microsoft Color Control Panel Applet adds a new 'Color' item to the Windows control panel, providing a single place to view and edit color management settings in Windows XP. Using it, you can install and uninstall color profiles, change color profile associations for displays, printers and scanners, view detailed properties for color profiles (including a 3D rendering of the color space gamut), and rename color profiles, keeping the filenames and "internal" names consistent. This tool also enables Windows to automatically adjust the gamut curve of the display when a color profile containing gamut table information is set as the default profile for the display. Typically, such profiles are created by custom monitor calibration tools, such as those available from ColorVision, GretagMacbeth, and X-Rite. If a color profile has this information, it is shown with an asterisk (*) in the user interface. Using the Microsoft Color Control Panel Applet, you can: * Install and uninstall ICC color profiles * Inspect, rename, and compare two different color profiles * View a 3D graphics plot of color profile color gamuts * Associate color profiles with devices such as printers, monitors, and scanners * Apply custom color gamut adjustments to one or more displays ?on the fly? * Set up display calibration reminders at intervals you specify http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...&DisplayLang=en

JRosenfeld
parkd1, Well, I posted on MS newsgroups (XP general) and two other people report the same problem I have with the color control applet not opening; no solution offered. If you have suggestions, please let me know. sorry if this is somewhat OT for this thread, maybe I should start one on another board?

JRosenfeld
Further to previous (too late to edit), was advised that a new download version is available, (not mentioned as such on the MS site). This differs by 16 bytes from the previous download, and works on my PC and on those of the others who had problems with the original. So if the color control applet is added to AP, please check that the download exe file is 1,506,352 bytes, MD5 hash 7BE311F9056BD32B53D74C5F78F8C2E3, not 1,506,368 bytes MD5 hash DAB968C4DE999F53236B0318B9C6AD9E of the old one.
