I'm a US'er - Oregonian to be precise.

I [like dead zombie] find it funny that a Canadian would use the term American - and not include themselves. Normally, when US'ers refer to themselves as Americans - and assume everyone knows they mean the US - its a shining example of that american arrogance. But when the residents of other American countries also use the term American to mean US - well what are we supposed to think of that? ;)

Maybe it's because people ask what country you're from, not what continent you live on. As far as I know, United States of America is the only country with the word 'America' in it. So, your nationality is shortened to American. Technically, your country should be named United States of North America, to use your logic. (The logic is correct, now tell every American to call themselves a 'United Statesman' and this problem will go away :D )

Actually our country is called United States of America instead of 'North America' because eventually we will control all aspects of the Americas. Give us time.

I'm an American (United Statesman) like you are, but that is just arrogant.

Unfortunately, you are right. The United States's Roosevelt Corollary stated that the United States would basically be the police force of the Americas.

USA.... and the only reason i refer to myself as an american is because i am just that. i reside in the americas ;)

however, im also an earthling, a californian, and many other things ;0

lets make up a better sounding nationality than United Statesment mmkay ;p

howbout.... damnit.... american is the only thing that sounds good ;p
