Meshuggah
i wouldnt mind if there was a new sub-section called "Pay Themes"...but i do have to agree on the whole free-advertisments. I understand it may not be your intentions, but it sure looks like that :/ i like the theme, but again wont pay for it, good job bubba
DreAming in DigITal
Why aren't the "mods" going to grow a pair and enforce their rules about advertising...but instead say stuff like "keep the crap comments out about paying for it." Maybe I'll start posting ads for my company on here also. Next thing you know everyone will be peddling their crap on here and saying they want "opinions" about it. That being said...I'm not TOTALLY against selling Visual Styles. I just don't think this is the place for it (I like the idea about a thread dedicated to "pay styles"). But I wouldn't even consider buying a theme if it didn't have the following: 1) Intaller and Uninstaller for matching Shellstyles and Icons (like on crystalxp) 2) Lots of origionality 3) Matching Wallpaper This themes isn't bad actually...but not worth the money to me...that just my opinion though. *Bubbabyte* I support the concept behind "pay themes" but only if they have the above items...take that in consideration and you may change some minds. Your works are good though.
ev0|
I'll probably get punched by a mod for this, but my opinion is that not only is it probably not legal to charge for a vs which is basically part of microsoft's OS, even if you've done work on it to change it, but it is also morally repugnant and even greedy to charge for a vs when its real world value is basically, nothing. Shadrack
Isn't it illegal to sell a visual style? You are breaking your EULA with microsoft by modifying their code and redistributing. Certainly you can not expect to sell something that is technically stolen. (sorry, don't mean to bash your tallent. It looks really good; maybe you should look into other mediums for your tallent if you want to get money for it. Here is a tip: just make a kick ass web page around your visual styles and get hooked up with the PayPal donation or something.)
Marduk
Nic has a very interesting point there maybe we should get more anal and find out if it really is legal or not? Also the theme would have to be b0se good as in good enough to actually work as a default theme replacement for half-year to a year to be worth any money. You all want something for free so you bash/flame them until they give it? Har har. You know, i'd love for bant to charge for ReLuna final, because i'd love to see your response's. We dont need a paid vs forum, unless we guna have a pay graphics forum, and a pay software forum, and pay everything actually.
insaneshaft
agreed, there's not enough themers charging (it's only the one small crew afaik) to warrant a new forum. moral, business & personal issues aside, all we're asking is that they put [payware] / [pay theme] / [pay] or similar in their theme title. not much to ask really, because as everyone knows, 99.9% of forumgoers here expect a theme to be free. Darkscreenz
all we're asking is that they put [payware] / [pay theme] / [pay] or similar in their theme title. not much to ask really, because as everyone knows, 99.9% of forumgoers here expect a theme to be free. The people that put together good themes spend A LOT of their free time doing so...and yes, it is more than any person on this site should ask to mark a thread to save the "freegoers" from "wasting their time" looking through things they actually have to pay for! And as far as the person that spoke of getting more "anal" (fitting word for the cough cough "flamers" in the crowd) you mean to tell me that you aren't a Kazaa Lite user?...I mean being that you are into the free stuff you know ;) I hear that Bill Gates has suddenly developed a soft spot in his heart and is setting up a torrent site with all of our favorite corporate edition OS packages being free for the taking...as frickin if! There is a point to all of this, though it has been lost several times over. If you don't want to pay for graphics, then click the friggin Back button on your browser and search for something more along the lines of FREE.
