I'll be getting 2.3/2.3 DSL or as fast as I can afford.

Until cable can beat that AND allow me to serve, I'll be good.

If I ever earn enough money, I'll go T3. Yes, seriously. I have such a craving for bandwidth it's sick. Mainly for all the serving I do (web, not files you mooks :D ) As soon as I get my own apartment and a job, I'll host all your sites for free :)

Lets see, on a dual DSL setup with 2 routers, I could at best hit around 500kbps, and had major problems gaming and not to mention that the major DSL providers are in a constant state of going bankrupt or being sold off. In one year my contract was moved through 4 different ISP's, just because companies were shuffled around.

Now I have cable through Time Warner. Its cheaper, I hit 3700+kbps (although they only gaurantee 2000) and my line has only dropped once in 6 months, due to a fire at one of there relay stations. Service is next day, and my upload hits around 500kbps...I can literally download many gigs of data per day...if I can just find the HD space!

So cable is the winner IMHO.

How did you combine the two pipe? I didn't know that it was possible. Using special routers?

I want T3!!! Gimme gimme! I've never had enough of speed! Faster is better! Now I'm stuck with 1.5mbps/128kbps cable.

I tried ADSL at my friend's place the other day, and frankly, it sux compared to cable (which is what I have). Why do I have cable? Because I can. Because I didn't feel like getting ADSL from telstra. And I am not sure what is with telstra bigpond, because sometimes I seem to be capped to 70K/sec, and on some nights I get up to 750 K/sec downloading with getright. But the dreaded word: "caps" just spoils everything.

Stuck? Some people would kill for speed like that ; ) BTW, I thought I read on /. today, that Australia doesn't have any broadband carriers as of last week?

Hehehe...I was joking only. Actually I was very satisfied with the current speed. Only recently my ISP have just announced the ridiculous monthly usage cap that really made my broadband experience became annoyed :hurt:

ive had dsl and cable, and am currently using cable now (uncapped)...

with dsl 256/64, my pings in gaming were around 65-100 (although there wasnt any lagg), and if i tried to download at the same time as play, my pings would sky rocket to bout 2500-5000, so i wouldnt say its better for gaming..the MAX speed i downloaded at was 26Kbytes p/sec.

uncapped cable, i ping bout 10-35, and if i download something, it doesnt change the ping at all, and no lagg either..the MAX speed i've downloaded is 1.6Mbytes p/sec.

so in my opinion, uncapped cable is the way to go
