that is what forums are for.. if you want to have a peacefull conversation, call your buddy down the street.. forums are a public place for all to give there opinions.. wanted or not.. liked or not.. that is the point.. it's open expression of everyone, like them or not..

i interjected my opinion.. i said mac's suck.. i think they do.. that is my right to think that and speak that.. and to be technical, to type that.

you however bashed me for posting my opinion that you apparently dont agree with. and i bet you'd like it if i shutup.. that would be basically censorship on your part..but those who have all the power think like that.. .

you've irritated me and become a waste of keystrokes.. i'll end this here..

have a nice day.

I think it's about time that you grew up and moved out of your mother's basement. If you haven't noticed Neowin has rules and you have just broken 2 of them. Neowin isnt a place to have ****ing contests or to try to make up for your lack of length in the trousers, you might think you are doing the forum a favour by bashing on people that use macs but in your case you have just ended up making yourself look retarded.

Congratulations on your enrollment into the Brotherhood of the Bridge-Underwellers.

Unbelievable, i really good discussion where i was learning some interesting facts and it is blown away with 2 pages of crap because of an imature troll.

Neowin is not your public free-for-all flame board. You have to sign up to be a member in order to post and you have to abide by rules. Very simple.

Its a real shame you couldn't just move along. If you are a "Apple basher" then why were you even looking in an all Mac thread? Obviuosly looking for trouble. Please take it somewhere else.

:right: :ermm:

Both Mac's and PC's are great, a computer is a computer.

I've used an old Mac and enjoyed it, I'm sure the newer Macs with OSX are an even more enjoyable experience. I'm happy with my PC. If I had the money I'd use Both.

I agree...we're already up to 5 and they still have to hold a key on the keyboard...LOL how unproductive. I just couldn't live without my scroll wheel, right mouse button, keyboard hotkeys, graphics hardware acceleration (which the Mac sorely lacks), games, and so on. There's absolutely no reason I would ever have to switch to a Mac.

Also I am not sure but don't standard PCI and AGP cards not work in Macs? Because of Mac's proprietary video interface? If this is true then add 5.1 surround sound and GF3 to my earlier list.

Uhhh how about you think first. Or better yet, read the thread. It's already been mentioned about mice. I'm using a intellimouse with 5 buttons just as I do on my PC.

As for the AGP card, the slots are standard. You can buy a GF3 and it will work in a mac. That arguement is also redundant cause it's like me saying that PC's are gay because you can't use G4 chips on them.

If you had read read before, MS Intellimouses work on Macs with no trouble at all. You get all 5 buttons, including a mouse wheel. Plus, macs have hotkeys like any other OS. The Apple Pro Keyboard even has a few! The new iMacs come bundled with a gf2mx. Ati Radeons exist in mac versions.

You're right, there is no reason for you to switch to a Mac seeing as how you're so retarded that you probably need someone to hold your hand while you're typing as well. As already stated in thread:

a: you can use an intellimouse on a mac, there are MS OS X drivers for that purpose

b: You can easily use OS X just on the basis of how many keyboard shortcuts there are.

c: Macs support OpenGL and quartz

d: We have games on the mac, only the good ones as well so we don't have to wade through the crap titles

Also I am not sure but don't standard PCI and AGP cards not work in Macs? Because of Mac's proprietary video interface? If this is true then add 5.1 surround sound and GF3 to my earlier list.

when in doubt question your own moronity like our pal darkmark here. Here's a bit of a history lesson for ya, Geforce 4 was on the Mac first ok? Not only that but we have digital video and you don't so boo hoo. 5.1 sound? You technically have no need for 5.1 on a computer as you need no centre speaker but for those who want to watch dvd's with pristine surround sound and digital video there the Logitech Z-560 speaker set.

You have been smacked back into the land of ignorance so please enjoy your flight.

I have graphics hardware acceleration on the version I'm running. Quartz Extreme is so far ahead of what windows does. The nearest it's going to come is the integration of DirectX 9 in Windows Longhorn. 2 years away...

I LUVE MY 1 BUTTON MOUSE!!! Plus no accidental right clicking ;)

Most of the people if not all ;) who flame macs, have used a mac for like 1 min, probally at school that is if they ever went to school to learn how better macs are ;) you like what you like but dont start a BIG war over it. I have switched to the mac and my mac is slower than my pc! now htat tells you something that speed isn't everything. and as for games. lets see you got ut, and q3 what else do you need. you got the sims, escape from monkey island, wolfenstein. there may not be 1000000000 games for the mac but the games that are out for the mac are the good ones! the ones worth playing. I plan to sell or give my little brother my xp box and go all mac soon once i get the $$ so start donating to the SEND TIMMY MONEY FOR HIS NEW MAC Plan ;)

...Moving Away From All that Crap, and back on subject!

Since Viewing OS X, Around the time of XP's Release, it left me Both Curious and Bedazzaled, not only by the OS, but the Hardware that Runs it. There's No Denying Apple's hardware is Truely 1337 (Tim Style! LOL!) ... And From that Curiousity, u kinda Pick things up ... and eventually it leads 2 "Needing to try it, get a Feel For it, and Making U're own *Honest* Opinion" ... well, I was Fortunate enough to get an opportunity to try an iBook

(G3 500MHz, 64Mb (yes, 64!!!) Blah Blah)

...Anyhow, it was Loaded (after a Lot of Hassle, Scouring for the 10.1 Update on a 56K Modem!) With 9.1, and 10.1.3

...And i have to say, for an OS which Quotes 128MB RAM, it Ran Awesomely Well! OK, So it wasn't FAST... but the thing is, It was Fully Functional, DESPITE the Fact it had half the Recommended MINIMAL Amount of Memory. i could Launch Several Apps, Switch to them, even Load Flash 5 in Classic, and it ALL worked Sweet! ... it Never Crashed Once, too ... i think it is truely incredible when you compare, even now the amount of Lockup's, BSOD's (blah blah) you get on M$'s "most Advanced" User OS!

This alone, Is enough to tempt ANY User, who Simply Gets P!ssed off, with CRASHING, its CRAZY! ... i agree XP, or should i say NT5 is a massive Development, but in my eyes, Despite the Obvious "hardware Support" ... OS X is Already taking Steps in front of M$'s OS. Dazzla Can Back this up with Other Arguments, Such as Quartz extreme For example!

I Think the Comparitive Prices With PC's and Mac's is Fully Justifable, when you Look at a few Factors ...

Usability (hehe, with Minimal Crashes, it Can be "just a tad" Productive)

Quality of Hardware ... IT kinda Goe's Without saying

Development ... This is one which is Obvious to the majority of Neowinians, thanks to the "news" ... We All know of the latest Advancement, Jaguar, but Beyond that, it appears Apple has a Strong Base (OS X) Which they can Build upon, and Take Strides Forward in the Computer World.

I Personally Feel, that For Anyone, Who's NOT such a Gamer ... (and it now appears if u are, get a GOD DAMN Xbox, Thanks to Mr. gates Shipping Top Titles to it! LOL) ... Give X a go, and See it for yourself! :D ...it truely is Sweet, and i Cannot wait to get a New Mac this Summer! :D

I just bought the new iBook G3 700Mhz -- can't wait for it to arrive. I decided to keep my existing desktop (Dell) and opted for a more mobile solution.

This is my first Mac, and I must say that I'm pretty excited. I went out and bought Mac OS X Unleashed and have been reading it like a madman!

Cheers,

RW

a) as I said i missed that

b) but they aren't hotkeys

c) but OSX graphics are slow and lack hardware acceleration

http://www.wired.com/news/mac/0,2125,51926,00.html

some highlights from that article:

"I spent $1,800 on a computer that's slower than the $400 eMachine it replaced," one iMac user wrote in an e-mail.

Several correspondents asked not to be identified for fear of retaliation by Mac zealots, who have been known to e-mail 1,000 or more harangues to the work addresses of those who criticize the huggable device.

In particular, he said hardware graphics acceleration was largely missing from OS X at this stage in its development.

Grewal defended Apple's strategy of releasing a slow version of OS X now rather than a faster one later. "That was a conscious decision Apple made," he said. "They optimized for user experience rather than raw performance."

And, at least in Wired News tests, OS X didn't mimic 9.2's habit of locking up completely, requiring the Mac's power cord and/or battery to be removed in order to reboot it

I think this time next year or in 18 months, Apple will have time to focus on how they can make the performance better,"

the only problems I've ever had with XP were with glass2k which has a tendency to randomly BSOD (which is not the fault of XP) and bad drivers which were easily rectified with driver rollback...I have never had XP lockup (even when some crappy site started spawning hundreds of IE windows I still managed to save it)

Simple click of a button and it's on. Apache built in, how sweet is that.

I leave my iMac on 24/7 so when I go to college, I still open and save all my documents on my iMac. How cool is that!

Call me a simple dumbass, but that's what Apple are best at, talk about ease of use...

Knowing me though, I've probably opened the doors for everyone now :s

wow guess what with XP you can do that and remotely control your entire machine as though you were right there

naturally this requires a good deal of upload eg cable modem but still
