energizer23
Just code in whatever language you're most comfortable in! I do think VB.NET will eventually make the program be able to have a lot more features than with VB6.. just because VB.NET is the future (of VB languages anyway)... DayleRees
tim if not for these really confusing bugs it would be so damn close.... these bugs are so weird its like the server isnt behaving right... which is of course wrong because normal msn can sign in... i just have to fiddle and fiddle with them Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/285122-nexus-messenger/page/10/#findComment-585488789 Share on other sites

In .NET are some features already there, if you compaire it to VB6 -- they are not there, since some classes with the feature are missing ;) Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/285122-nexus-messenger/page/10/#findComment-585489416 Share on other sites
phedot
I think you should choose the one that you are more comfortable with... If it is VB. NET stick with VB .NET if it is VB6 choose VB6... About the memory usage issue, the framework will release used memory if it is needed ;) Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/285122-nexus-messenger/page/10/#findComment-585489652 Share on other sites
DayleRees
right just spent a few hours in VB.net taking the incoming data down to bytes search for newlines and putting them together again so the commands arent getting split by the packet joins... thought i wa onto a lead.... it does exactly the same as before.... vb.net has pi%%ed me off for the last time, im porting the project to VB6. This will have a negative impact on the graphics of the application. DayleRees
Ah thanks for the idea but this is my personal vendetta against .net continued... i think ill let it rot in peace... ANYWAY good news... already coded quite a bit of the VB6 port. So far we have a 'lite' sign in sequence.. challenges etc are sorted and... SSL WORKS!!! so you can use any email account on this one. whats kinda funny is that the list problem is even the same on winsocks... but slightly simpler... instead of totally obliterating the broken line all over the list... vb6 just has it down a line... i think i can think of something to sort that out hopefully. So sooo far.. the port isnt going too bad... ill update my blog in a sec. No interface set up on this thing yet by the way... wnna get the base engine done first. black.ops
On a white background the outline won't really show, thinking about maybe just a hairpin stroke?
