Yes I'm dissapointed as well. I tried despirately to get Lee to use the Nexus webpage to update the progress on Nexus but he never logged in. Then I gave him the site for the bug tracker and he never signed up. I had a feeling this was going downhill around that time. I put a lot of work into building, tweaking and even paying for the webhost but unfortunately, I felt like it shouldn't have been worth my time.

I kept at it though. Trying to balance work, girlfriend, a clan, a blog AND Nexus (some sleep here and there also) was successful for a bit. I now see 0 people out of the 6 working on the nexus project online.

Yet again I would say "anyone wanna pick up this project?" but I have no code in my hands (except for a quick back up that Rus made me do for his part).

It is pathetic actually. Lot of programmers here promise all kind of cool things (I still hear Lee saying adding webcam support will be a walk in the park....), but they never deliver.

Only a hand full actually make what they promise.

Messengers, browsers, download managers... nothing actually gets released in an acceptable state. I gave up my hopes on this project the day the thread was started actually.

Yes luckily there are some good projects going on. Sadly this one wasn't one of them. I may be working on a messenger in the future but I won't release any details on it until it's complete or so close to complete that I need beta testers.

I've noted a lot of things that people want in this project and will keep them for the future. Don't wait for it though. i'll probably start working on it close to when my second semester of Programming starts.

Right, I haven't said much in this subject but have followed it and I am too disappointed that it's not going to be completed.

I work 5 days a week and also do a lot of voluntary work in the evenings, but I am willing to give a shot at writing a messenger like Nexus. However, I will tell you, the progress will be slow, but I will keep everyone informed of the progress.

I don't really want to continue with Nexus, I feel it may be better if a new one was started with a different name.

So if the support is there, and people want me too, I'll give it a go.

If there is support, I need suggestions for a name, people willing to tell me what features they want or would like!.

I plan to release builds when (and only when) they are stable and usable.

Also, if we go ahead I will start a new topic for this.

Cheers.

Well, that is to be seen...

Anyways, what is the use of a messenger application? There are tons of messengers out there that are great and are fully customizable.

MSN Messenger can be patched to a lean messenger which supports everything.

Yahoo Messenger is a good application.

Trillians is nice and supports practically everything.

Miranda IM is fully customizable and works great.

A new messenger wouldn't add anything.... so what is the use?

Nexus didn't even look that great, plus it didn't support much features either.

True.

But also it's fact of that the messenger you are using has been developed to some point yourself and/or your pals, ok, nexus never came off and the features may not have been like msn messanger, but it had at one stage huge support, indicatiing some need for a simplified version of a messenger.

The additional point is that you can add your own fetaures into it too (depending on what u want to do!).

Anyway, it's upto others as well if there is support it I will get going on it, if not, then we will leave be.

Do we want another messenger to be developed or not?

lol no i dont think we need another messenger project, i see the Nova Messenger project has gone quiet too, even if someone did start another Messenger project like this one, i probably wouldnt follow it..

Nexus messenger was only interesting because it looked good.

(Well thats the only reason i was interested anyway)
