I had 11 days of uptime on my windows xp professional machine, and installed tokrachi's new files, which I have to reboot to load the icons and everything. I was excited about having 11 days of uptime (my best so far) because I use my computer a lot and I was suprised it didn't come up with a "Windows has been running too long" error or something like that. trbeat Posted September 22, 2002 Share Posted September 22, 2002 Time for a dumb question, I have the shell32.dll patch, the mydocs.dll and explorer.exe file when I apply them they do not take. The Icons stay the same. I am running SP1 of XP Pro and have renamed my shell32's, flushed my cache and rebooted often .. Any clue as to what I am doing wrong .. or should I jeust wait until we get the excellent package .. Thanks. tokrachi Posted September 22, 2002 Author Share Posted September 22, 2002 If you have slipstreamed SP1, dll's etc will reside in windows/system32/dllcache. If you updated XP to SP1 using the MS executable or via windows update, you will find your dll's etc cached in both windows/servicepackfiles and or system32/dllcache directories. Make sure after applying the patch or any mods to reboot your system and then rebuild your iconcache using TweakUI or similar application. I may be wrong as I haven't yet played around too much with SP1 ,Hope this helps.
